In my blog today, I will be sharing a recipe for AKARA.
Akara is a well known Nigerian snack made out of beans and people have different methods of preparation and today I'm sharing one of my recipe.
Ingredients
- Beans
- Vegetable oil
- Seasoning cubes
- Ginger
- Pepper
- Onion
It is worthy of note that all my ingredients are specially selected for their nutritional value
Beans
Beans is a well known food around the world because of its nutritional values and is a legume crop which contains protein, fiber, vitamins and iron.
Beans have different varieties such as lima beans, kidney beans, soybeans, etc.
Eating beans can reduce the risk of diabetes, cancer, heart disease and others.
Beans is highly recommend for both the aged and the Children
Ginger
Ginger is one of the healthiest spices which can either be used fresh or dried and even powered.
Aside cooking, it can be used to produce ginger drink.
It can help in weight loss, reduces blood sugar, treat indigestion, clears the throat from mucus and reduces menstrual pain in women .
Onion
Onion is also another known vegetable which reduces cholesterol level, fight inflammation and contains antioxidant and cancer fighting agent.
Pepper
Pepper carries some special kind of flavour and some health benefits which include managing weight, pain relief, reduces inflammation and cures colds and congestion.
It contains vitamins C, E, A and choline.
Vegetable Oil
Soybeans vegetable oil is also very nutritious and recommended for everyone.
It contains soybeans which which I've already talked about legumes above.
Seasoning Cubes
This is a source of tasty and delicious product to help my Akara yummy.
Procedures
Firstly, measure 4 cups of beans, take out the stones and anything that is not beans then wash it with clean water and put inside a bowl |

Wash ginger, pepper and onion and add to the beans and blend them together |

After blending, add 4 cubes of seasoning into the paste, stir thoroughly while you set your fry pan and enough vegetable oil on the fire and heat to 100 degrees the scoop your beans paste and put in the hot oil.

After a while, turn it over with a spoon for the other side to fry.
Afterwards, pick the fried akara into a collender to drain the oil completely.

Then you can serve hot and can be eaten alone, with bread or pap.
If you observed, I didn't peel off my beans because doing so will render it less nutritional.
Also don't add too much water because if the paste is watering, you will not get a desired result. But add just a little water while blending and just a small glass of water is enough
