Closing 6 months! Starting with the next 6 months… Go… Go… Go!

Greetings my Steemian friends!

Today mark exactly 6 months since my return to Steemit. With this it brings a time for me to close a chapter in my life.

I am sure you are asking. Why?

Life consist out of goals from the time you are born. You might not be aware of it but there is a goal for that first tooth, a goal for crawling and a goal for that first baby step.

These might be goals that life sets for you but pretty soon you will find yourself setting your own goals.

On 17 January 2022 I made a decision to “re-join” Steemit. As I was not very active in Steemit when I first joined I knew very little of the way Steemit functions.
With all the changes over the last 5 years in which I was not active I felt totally lost.

I was indeed a plankton swimming in the wide ocean. The only difference was that I was not going to give up.

I reminded myself of what I told my son when he informed me that he wanted to study medicine.
“You can do it on one condition. You are not going to come to me after a month and tell me that you don’t like medicine and that you want to change your study field. You will stay committed to your studies for six months”.

That is how my journey started, I set a goal to be active on Steemit for six months.

What I have achieved in these six months;

Looking back my growth on Steemit in the last six months was special. Not only have I grown on my performance but I have grown so much in person.

I have learned how to write good posts, what it takes to be a curator, how important it is to support a community, the need for education and most importantly that I can make a difference.

The beauty of life is that with each chapter we close in our lives we can start a new one.
I am starting my new chapter, my next six months on Steemit today.

I want to encourage you to open your new chapter. There is no better time than NOW as Engagement Challenge 3 is starting tomorrow which is a huge advantage. Daily challenges are brought to you.

I am sharing 5 points which you can use to mark that first page of your new chapter;

2. Write quality posts
3. Be active
4. Engage
5. Follow

READ

Reading posts is crucial! It is through reading posts from fellow Steemians that

I have learned;

• How to write
• Which posts works and which don’t
• How to improve my communication skills
• What mistakes are made so that I don’t make the same
• How to enrich myself

I have gained knowledge and experienced of the world which can never be taken away from me.

WRITE

Writing is what Steemit is all about. Some of us are natural authors and others not. Through the reading of the posts from fellow Steemians I have become "wise" in my writing.

1. Use short and explosive headings
2. Have a clear understanding of what you want to write
3. Plan your post
4. Make sure you understand the rules of a contests
5. Make use of markdown style and good images
6. Write posts with 300+ words all the time unless a contest rules otherwise
7. Check your post before you post

Most importantly, write from your heart and write what you can claim as your own.

BE ACTIVE

By being active you get a sense of belonging, you connect with others, you get perspective of what is happening and lastly you maintain your interest.

• A post a day is all that is needed
• Familiarize yourself with Steemit communities
• Support delegations etc.
• Become part of support groups on WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord etc.
• Powerup your earnings"

Being active is what keeps me going, day after day! I've learned that the more I put in the more I get out.

ENGAGE

The Steemit platform is all about engagement. I wish I knew this when I joined Steemit. It is only through my engagement on Steemit that I have learned.

When we engage with others we create a deeper sense of that “belonging”. It not only gives us the sense of belonging but it keeps us committed, focused and motivated.

• Upvote the post of fellow Steemians and communities on a daily basis
• Reply in good sentences which is related to the topic and uplifting
• Take part in lessons posted by Steemians
• Take part in contests
• Join and support various communities
• Play it forward by helping other Steemians
• Support others to better your wellbeing

I always say that a little bit of encouragement can go a long way!

FOLLOW

The experts tells you that leaders must lead from the front. A good Steemian will follow those leaders.

• Trust those who lead on Steemit. They know the "why’s" and they know the "how’s"
• When you follow give respect and you will receive respect
• If you follow and do things right others will start following you
• Follow club status at all time

In the end it is the collective effort of all of us, leaders and followers, which will determine your own success, the success of fellow Steemians and most importantly the success of Steemit.

And now I have written enough. My chapter is open.

It is now up to you to put your fingers to the keyboard and to start your planning for this week’s engagement challenges, the first page of your new chapter.
