The Pandemic has wreaked havoc to the lives of people. Economy collapsed, companies closed and unemployment rate shoot to the roof. This list of boring and heartbreaking truths can go on but let us skip the drama. "When life gives lemons, make a lemonade and sell it to your neighbors" - Alright I made up the last part. But this is literally what happens in the Philippines when the pandemic strikes and Enhanced Community Quarantine begins. This is the time of the rise of the online market where you can order almost everything online and delivered to your home in an instant. I patronize my online seller friends as well as they patronize me because I also do online selling. This is a mutual relationship that makes us financially survive the pandemic. But many Filipinos still has no access to internet or has no knowledge of running their business online. Here comes the traditional vending way and let me introduce to you some of the people I meet that diligently peddle their products to the streets and they are worth buying from because of their quality products and mostly because these are the people who beat the pandemic. They don't just sit down and cry and wait for the government to feed them. They are the people who use their ingenuity. They are the people worth the praise!

Let me introduce to you Kuya Beef Pares vendor - " Kuya Nash" .

He used to be a supplier of seafood products to several restaurants here in Cebu, Philippines. He lost all his customers due to pandemic which means losing his livelihood as well. I instantly notice him because of his creative cart.

I bought from him his Mami Beef Pares and thank him for sharing his story to me. He lived in Manila, Philippines but currently his renting an apartment at Masiwa Agus, Lapu Lapu City - a neighboring barangay where I lived.

He walked several hours and distance every morning selling his taho - (street food that made up of soya milk).

I hurriedly stop by to buy taho from him. While preparing my taho, I have a chance to chat with him and I learn that he used to be an employee of a company who shutdown its operation due to pandemic. Thanks to Kuya Taho vendor, my breakfast is solved.

Say hello to Kuya Buko vendor.

He is pushing his cart to several locations serving his nutritious and refreshing buko. Like kuya Taho vendor, he too lost his job because his company closes. While waiting and hoping for his company to offer him his job back, he is here serving the thirsty public with his buko juice.
