Tapping is something my dad has taught me. With raffia when the raffia is ready to tap and you fail to so it flowers and then produces the raffia nuts then it dies after that but in the case where it taped it turns to produce young ones.

Procedure for tapping .after identifying a raffia that is ready to tap, you need to cut all the branches hindering you so as to make the place more visible. All the branches are cut to half of it height then an insertion is done using the taping knife upto you see the seed that is the flowers. Then you make a rectangular shape upward not too large.

Then you close it using the palm fronds and tap for aleast four days before the white stuff start flowing, that is where you inset the pipe to collecting it into a litter depends on the flow .
