A warm greetings to you all today in this Reflexions de Vida community. I'm always excited to show my culinary skills, although I'm open to learning other dishes too. Today my dish is an African made dish that's widely enjoyed by all race. This dish is so tasty and yummy and has good health benefits, hence its high consumption.
Afang soup is one dish that I don't joke with. The taste makes me feel relaxed once I taste a good one. It's one of the dishes the bride to be family prepares for the groom's family on their traditional marriage day, to show the bride can cook.
Ingredients for Afang Soup
Here are the list of items needed for this soup;
Afang (it's a leaf that's plucked, washed, cut and grinded)
Water leaf
Meat(I used goat meat)
Palm oil
Crayfish
Periwinkle
Maggi/salt
Onions/pepper
Dry fish/stockfish
Steps-by-steps Preparation of Afang soup
Depending on what you want to start with, I like to start with washing the water leaf and cutting it.
Then, I'll wash and season my meat and allow it cook.
Since I bought already cut periwinkle, I simply wash it and set aside.
Then I pound my crayfish with pepper and keep too.
When all my items are prepared, I then go ahead to start cooking. You can see my meat with its stock.
- In the pot, I add my periwinkle, dry fish, stockfish, Maggi, pepper, crayfish, salt and palm oil and allow it steam for some minutes.
- After some minutes, I then add my water leaf and stir it properly and evenly and allow cover it to cook well.
- Then when it boils well, I then finally add the afang and stir to cook for few minutes and then the meal is done.

This soup can be served with any swallow of choice. I prefer garri. Some people prefer processed cassava(foofoo), wheat, oat flour, etc.
