Greetings everyone and welcome to my entry for the Luck contest hosted by this prestigious community. Luck I believe is not a phenomenon that is not new to any of us as we have all experienced it at some point in our lives. So here is what I have for you this topic.

Have you had a stroke of luck in your life? Tell us an anecdote.

Have I ever had a stroke of luck in my life? Oh yes! I have countless times. But then, what is this Luck of a word we always get to hear every day?

Have you ever gotten something out of nothing? Like within you, you felt you didn't do much to earn it or still you feel it was given to you on a platter of gold? That's luck speaking for you. But there is another perspective on it, This other perspective is when you do all the best you can offer, sometimes even better than everyone else, and still lose out.

Luck according to the English people is any event that can't be described but is believed to be good or bad which brings success (good luck) or failure (bad luck).

Therefore Luck can be characterized as any superficial factor that impacts the outcome of an event either positively or negatively. Luck for me, is a matter of perception depending on the individual's perspective.

So yes, I have experienced luck in both ways, The one I am most fond of is when I got my job as a medical laboratory attendant. I still remember how I was in a class teaching when I received the call to come pick up my letter of appointment among a thousand applicants even though it wasn't for what I applied for.

Do you think your achievements have been due to hard work or luck? Support your opinion.

As I said, Luck can go both ways, bad luck (unfavorable result) or good luck (favorable result), hence we can't attribute all of my achievements to luck.

Using my employment as a case study, yes I got the work placement without much expectations, but I did put in the hard work to get the required degrees and documentation.

I believe in the power of luck and what it can do for anyone. I know sometimes we don’t always get what we worked for and at the same time, we don't always work for everything we have in our life.

But in all, while luck can impact the outcome of an event, it’s important to know that hard work is a more dependable tool to trust as banking on luck alone can bring about dismay, but hard work usually brings with it knowledge even if no result to show for it yet.

What does the phrase "Fortune favors the bold" mean to you?

This is a well-known adage that simply means, good luck will come to those who are bold enough to take chances. Hence, the feeling of "it's my fate, that's why I don't have good luck" is a fallacy.

Records have shown that fortune favors anyone with the courage to take risks but rather sensible risks and not being reckless. If you don't put in any work, his would you boldly expect a favorable result?

Therefore, this adage is a cry to encourage me not to be lazy and expect a good or favorable result, but rather that I should put in the good work with the hope that my lucky day can be today.

My most recent good luck dates back to September 2022, when I applied for my NYSC mobilization, Why I considered this as good luck is that, after graduating from the higher institution in 2019, I applied for my mobilization to go for service, however, it was getting bounced since then till September 2022 when I've lost all hopes of going for my National Youth Service.

Looking at me now, I will be rounding up my National Youth in a month. Something I've lost all hopes of going.
