Hello Wonderful Gems community, I lived and grew up in a village not far from Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. If you were living in a small village, you should definitely remember this. But since you live in a different country, what I am writing about is very different.

Village .... how's your memory of it? I ask you this question for one reason. With the busy life we live in today, the word 'village' can be very comforting. Why do I feel that way? The reason I feel that way is because of the bond I have with everything in the village. Even if you rarely visit the village, you can still forget the village of the past. It is because you and I love the village. My experience in Asian countries has been similar.

So I thought of writing a little talk with you about the first things that come to my mind when we talk about our old village. This is about the village that existed two decades ago. If you are not a resident of this village, I invite you to read the article about the beauty of the village.

Now, our Buddhists are less likely to go to a temple, but the village community center at that time was the temple. In the past, young children were picked up, and adults were taken to the temple at least once a week. We play with our friends as long as our parents and parents are talking. At that time we thought that going to temples was a good thing. And as he got older, he realized the importance of going to the temple. We had this habit when we went to temples when the burden was too much.

There is a TV in the house, that is the entertainment center in the village. When some news arrives, the villagers come running to this village. Twenty hours a day just doesn't work. The memory of life with entertainment and cartoons still brings us comfort. Also, it is very difficult to make a call at that time. Having a cell phone is the most important birth of a household. A cell phone was given to the most important house in the village. So anyone who wanted to make a call could go to that house and call their needs.

Unlike the city, most of the village shops had delicious food at the time. Lavaria (Sinhala meaning), stone buns, wand hoppers. The tongue still tastes like it remembers. This is why our uncles and dads tasted so good that they didn't have a snack like that at the time, and they used to eat tea in the evening.

First, Arachchi was the head of the entire village. He had the authority to lead any other village. Now when the politicians take this place, all the obscenities in the village are said to have belonged to him. There was a shop in every village. This shop had everything. At the time, no hardware was ever heard of a pharmacy. The shopkeeper was the one who wrote the book to everyone and lent it. Even today, some shops still lend that way. Those days computer accountancy system hadn't. But transactions doesn't missed. So I write few memorable things of our old folk life. Thanks for reading. Be safe everyone.
