A three-day tradition of rural Bengali Gadan play has started in Naogaon. The competition started on Tuesday (July 12) at 4 pm in Chakvikram (Kalur Mor) area of Hampania Union of Sadar Upazila.
Local social organization Ekushe Parishad Naogaon Hampania regional committee organized this competition.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Rakibul Islam inaugurated the game as the chief guest. At this time, engineer Dewan Abdul Quader, a gifted son of Naogaon, was felicitated.
The locals demanded to organize this game every year to build a drug-free society and protect the youth.
Gadan is a traditional game of rural Bengal. At one time this game was very popular in the countryside. It was one of the means of entertainment for the rural people and the working people. But over time, that is likely to change.
About five hundred people from different walks of life thronged around the field to watch the game.
