Lake Lau Kawar offers a view of Mount Sinabung and a vegetable plantation owned by the residents under the foot of the mountain. If you're lucky, visitors can see Mount Sinabung when it's not covered by fog.

With a height of 2,450 meters above sea level, the weather on Lake Lau Kawar is certainly cool and fresh. In contrast to the atmosphere of a hot city and full of pollution. This location is still included in the Leuser Ecosystem Area (KEL), under the foot of Mount Sinabung.

With its blue water, Lake Lau Kawar has an area of around 200 hectares. The lake has a beautiful atmosphere with lots of green trees at the foot of the mountain so it is no less beautiful than Lake Toba.

On the edge of Lake Lau Kawar, there is often a group camping, resting while climbing Mount Sinabung. In addition, visitors can also see some people fishing in the middle of the lake by using a small boat.

Lake Lau Tawar is also shrouded in myths and folk legends. When visiting Lake Lau Kawar, visitors must behave and talk politely, forbidden to commit immorality, to throw garbage into the lake. If violated, the watchman of the lake and mountain will be angry, marked by the coming storm.

The easiest route to get to Lake Lau Tawar is from downtown Medan. The distance that must be taken is around 70 KM and takes about 3 hours. This route is the easiest route for visitors who want to visit Lau Kawar Lake.

The first route from the city of Medan goes to the city of Berastagi, then continues to get to the intersection with a signpost indicating the direction and distance to the remaining 27 Km. After that, continue the journey by following the main road which will later lead to the location of the lake.

The road is a bit far, but along the way, there will be a lot of scenery and a cool atmosphere because it's the location of the lake at the foot of the mountain. Moreover, the background view of Mount Sinabung will complement the journey to the location.

It is highly recommended if you want to visit the Lau Kawar lake to use private vehicles both two or four-wheeled vehicles. No public transportation can deliver directly to the location of the lake.

Of course if using a private vehicle will be easier and more comfortable. No need to worry about road conditions where access can be passed by all vehicles both two-wheeled and even four-wheeled.
