Dozens of students from a number of Elementary Schools (SD) and High Schools (SMA) in Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, participated in the Arts and Culture Festival and Creation Competition in 2024.
The activity held by the Bireuen Regency Government through the Bireuen National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol), lasted one day, Saturday (9/11/2024), at the Wisma Bireuen Jaya Hall.
With the theme Through Arts and Culture We Increase Democratic Participation to Support the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections. The activity was opened by the Acting (Pj) Regent of Bireuen, Jalaluddin, S.H., M.M represented by Assistant I of the Bireuen District Secretariat, Mulyadi. S.H., M.M.
At the activity, Assistant I of the Bireuen District Secretariat, Mulyadi read a written speech from the Acting Regent of Bireuen.
He said that this festival is not just an art performance and creative competition, but is a real manifestation of the spirit of togetherness, creativity, and love for art and culture that is rich in local wisdom values.
Ahead of the 2024 Regional Head Elections (Pilkada), the Government together with related agencies are conducting socialization to increase democratic participation through arts, culture festivals and creative competitions for the younger generation, where the importance of art as an educational medium for the community.
"Regarding the regional head elections (Pilkada) because enjoyable art can create space for the community to understand the Pilkada in a more relaxed but effective way, through music, songs and creative dances. The moral message in the Pilkada is conveyed more subtly but still has an impact," he said.
In that art there are lyrics that are full of meaning and moral messages such as the Pilkada jingle which reminds us to choose wisely, which is delivered in a fun way such as music and dance which is easier for the brain to accept in a relaxed state, so that the educational process is better conveyed.
Therefore, this festival is not only a place to show talent and creativity, but also as our joint effort to introduce quality prospective leaders towards the success of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections.
The creative competition held in this festival is a concrete step to involve the younger generation in the process of learning democracy.
Understanding the importance of their role in realizing a just and democratic society is a valuable investment for the future of this nation.
"It is hoped that through the works produced, we can see the views and aspirations of our next generation towards the development and progress of this country," he hoped.

Previously, the Chairperson of the organizing committee, Nurhayati, S.E. reported that the purpose of this activity was to educate the younger generation to balance the spirit of democracy in order to support the success of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections.
