I hope you had a lovely evening with your friends.You had a lovely time with your friends, sometimes people don't have time to spend with others.People are so busy with their work that they don't have time for anyone else.But you had a great night out with your friends on New Year's Eve. I totally agree with you that such unity is very rare. There are very few occasions when people meet and ask each other how they are doing. Nowadays everyone is so engrossed in their work that they are not aware of the outside world and what is happening outside.
