Left to its own devices, the calendula spreads across the portion of the yard that lies around the old pear.
Given the time and space, which I am quite happy to give and see used, it could sp re ad further.
I have similar hopes for snowbells and crocuses, as well. But they were just introduced by me last spring so I am not yet sure if they would find the place hospitable.
Time will tell. I can imagine whole lawns of wildflowers.
