My Actifit Report Card: June 21 2024

I ended the week with another hot day up in the hills but I was able to hike the trails up in Granite Basin well under the blazing sun.

We were up at dawn and out for our walk before the really hot weather came through. Several of our friends were also thinking along the same line and we had fun walking and chatting together. We added an extra loop around the big field so that Lulu would get on 3 miles.

Even though Granite Basin is several hundred feet higher in elevation than Prescott, the temperature was still 92 degrees according to my car at the trailhead parking lot. I had a couple of water bottles in my pack and I made sure to soak my hat and shirt before starting the hike.
The trail was a dusty route but wetting my clothing really helped to keep me comfortable as the breeze (as hot as it was) made the evaporation nice and effective. The climbing was relatively mellow with just under 500 feet gained in 4 miles and there weren't any killer grades. Nevertheless it was nice when I finished up at the lake and waded in to cool off.

I just wish the hot and dry weather would abate so that I could try to increase my activities and even run.
