The Sublimest of Sundays!

in hive-193552 •  4 years ago

Sundays on Hive are sublime every week as we rally together and share our week ending day. For me, it is generally made up of garden work, procrastinating, cleaning up the week, and finding a little time to get out doors.

Once a year, it is much more.

Every year, on the august civic holiday long weekend, one half of the family and friends gather for The Joe. This is a fun golf tournament named after the patriarch who passed away a couple decades ago now.

The golf is great but it is the family summer gathering that makes it special.

Only 12 golfers this year which is about half as many as usual because of travel restrictions and people not yet ready to get back to normal. It is our first visit to Low like Golf Course on this overcast day.

The family have shown they will golf no matter what the weather conditions are, short of lightning. Uncle V has a sweet swing and has been working so hard on his farm this year that this is his first game.

There are some year long bragging rights on the line so you know there are going to be some mind games and perhaps a little hi-jinx sabotage. All in good fun and part of this tourney.

A little rake up against the pin is normal right?

With the golf out of the way, it is time for the families to gather, play games, feast and deal out the hardware. We have one for the worst golfer, best female and best overall score. The committee has deliberated and counted scores so it is trophy time.

Here is the winner of the Cetta Cup: Connie division for the lowest female score. Hotly contested every year and the third time she has taken it home.

This year, I was determined to leverage my ability to golf weekly and reign it in to compete for the cup. There were vastly improved golfers, the perennial challengers and some fairly solid cheaters to beat.

I am happy to proclaim, I was successful in bringing home the hardware with a year-low 88 strokes for the Hive blockchain! My good buddy @gooddream has been locking it down on the other side of the globe in his bowling exploits. This year, The Joe is back in our hands and I am going to take it on a tour in celebration!

Sundays are nice enough but when you add golf travel, family and a victory celebration, it is truly sublime!
