It’s MALTA Time!

After a couple of days of missed connections, lost luggage and layovers, we finally reached our destination. Not before waking up to a bright new morning in Rome. Not a bad view by the pool but we had a final flight to catch.

One last hour long flight from Rome just a bit more south to Malta and we would finally be back at our destination. Upon arriving, we figured a 50/50 chance that our luggage made the flight due to the changes. We got the bad 50 and are waiting them to find our bags and get them delivered to our place.

It seems all of the major airports are reporting mass delays and cancellations so make sure your carry on has all the essentials and pack like they will lose your luggage. Purchase travel insurance and be prepared to go shopping!

Even from a few thousand feet, the island looks hot and hazy. Last time we were here was probably my 18 years ago and it was a beautiful October when temperatures are a little more reasonable. This time, we are at the beginning of a long summer and will probably my have to adjust.

I only snapped a handful of pictures to share on our first day but will make sure to do better in coming posts these next couple weeks. Malta is an island south of Italy in the middle of the sea and is a wonderful historic exotic place dominated by white stone buildings. There will be plenty in the next series of adventures.

Hot and hazy on the ground too as we check out the harbour and grab some essential pastizzis. Do you know about these Maltese pastries? Oh they are quintessential and delicious! I will share some of those with you too.

For now, I just needed to get the chicks cooled off and a dip in the bay a 10 minute walk from where we are staying fit the bill. There are beaches all over the place which I will probably get to before we leave but this is one of the popular ones in this neighbourhood.

You know what else is mandatory? Beer in a post by your buddy Zeke. Almost a decade since I chugged myself a Cisk lager as someone brought me one a few years ago. Watery piss lager like our leader @davedickeyyall would like but it is the taste of Malta for me. Drinking one as I write this post.

Imagine what #beersaturday will be like when I have discovered that craft breweries are scattered here too!

Cheers to another 10k step day in exotic Malta!

Thanks for joining me and stay tuned for some damn cool stuff.
