La psicología educativa es un área de la psicología que estudia el proceso de aprendizaje de las personas dentro del ambiente educacional: preescolares, colegios, universidades. El psicólogo educativo se dedica a diagnosticar y establecer el tratamiento de dificultades asociadas al aprendizaje. Revisa, analiza y evalúa la metodología de enseñanza aplicada en los centros educativos y establece las recomendaciones y seguimiento pertinentes considerando el nivel evolutivo.
Educational psychology is an area of psychology that studies the learning process of people within the educational environment: preschools, schools, universities. The educational psychologist is dedicated to diagnose and establish the treatment of difficulties associated with learning. He/she reviews, analyzes and evaluates the teaching methodology applied in the educational centers and establishes the pertinent recommendations and follow-up considering the evolutionary level.
Para el ejercicio de su rol, el profesional debe ser graduado en Psicología y cumplir con los requisitos legales en el país donde ejerce. Por ejemplo, en Venezuela, debe estar inscrito en la Federación de Psicólogos de Venezuela, y en el Colegio de Psicólogos de su localidad. Por lo general, ejercen en centros educativos, los cuales ya previamente revisan sus credenciales para su incorporación en el puesto de trabajo.
In order to perform this role, the professional must have a degree in Psychology and comply with the legal requirements in the country where he/she works. For example, in Venezuela, they must be registered with the Venezuelan Federation of Psychologists and with the local College of Psychologists. Generally, they practice in educational centers, which previously review their credentials for their incorporation in the job.
El apoyo de estos profesionales para el proceso de aprendizaje y orientación a estudiantes, padres y docentes es de gran trascendencia para la detección oportuna y o tratamientos que permitan a la persona desarrollarse cognoscitivamente, dada las alternativas de acción que se promueven a través de una enseñanza adecuada y adaptada a las necesidades individuales o grupales, según sea el caso.
The support of these professionals for the learning process and guidance to students, parents and teachers is of great importance for the timely detection and or treatments that allow the person to develop cognitively, given the alternatives of action that are promoted through appropriate teaching and adapted to individual or group needs, as appropriate.
La psicología educativa ha sido de gran aporte en el área de investigación, cualitativa y cuantitativa; imposible pasar por alto los aportes de Piaget en éste ámbito, entre otros autores también muy importantes, que han legado a los nuevos investigadores retos para la psicología actual.
