Ravi was a farmer from a village in Sri Lanka. Ravi possessed a little plot of land where he planted vegetables. His harvest was not rich, but it was just sufficient for his family's needs, and he sold the little remainder in the market. However, his neighbor Lalith had the best harvest in his village.

One day, Ravi sat down beside his field disappointed. He wondered why, despite his hard work, he never got the result he wanted. Is my method of farming incorrect?

Ravi decided to visit Lalith and get some advice, so he went to meet Lalith. Lalith welcomed him with a friendly smile and took him to his flourishing field.

When Ravi presented his problem to Lalith, he said, “The secret isn’t just working hard but also working smartly and consistently. Do you water your plants daily?”.

Ravi nodded shyly.

“And do you check the soil and remove weeds regularly?” Lalith asked.

Ravi became more ashamed and responded, "No, not always. Sometimes I skipped a day or two because I was weary or thought it wouldn't make a difference.

Lalith smiled and added, “My friend, effort is like planting seeds. Even if it appears to be insignificant, each small act of care increases over time. Skipping days or doubting your work never returned the result you desired. But, even though it takes more time than you expected, persistent efforts will give you good results.

Ravi returned home with renewed determination after receiving Lalith's advice. Following that, he began watering his plant every morning, inspecting the soil, and removing weeds daily. It was not an easy task; there were days he was so tired and doubted himself. But he kept repeating Lalith’s words: “Effort does not betray the results.”

Months later, Ravi's efforts were rewarded. His field was full of beautiful vegetables, the most beautiful he had ever seen. His veggie quickly sold out at the market, and he made a lot of money to develop his land.

From that day, Ravi understood that effort is more than just physical work. It is a commitment to stay focused even when you are doubtful. Trying makes someone stronger, more determined, and more prepared for success.

Therefore, whenever you want to give up, remember Ravi’s story. Making an attempt separates you from those who do not.

Effort does not bring immediate results, but it shapes you into the type of person capable of achieving your goals.
