SEC-S18W6:Once upon a time when I was a child!

First, I would like to introduce myself to all of you. I am the first child of 3 siblings. I live in the countryside, of course there are many things I do while living in the village. At a young age I remember the war between GAM and the TNI. At that time I lived with my family at my grandmother's house. In the morning I could only play in front of the house and wasn't allowed to play far away because it was during the war between GAM and the TNI. At that time it was very difficult to play, even at night we only used candles as light. At that time I rarely watched television because only a few houses had televisions.

As time went by in 2002 we moved house to Krueng Geukueh. There my parents rented a house and I spent my childhood there. At that time I often went to watch television at a friend's house. Because we often watched television at a friend's house, my father bought a television for us to watch at home. I spend time watching television with my little sister.

In 2004, I was 8 years old and already at school. When I go to school, my father often takes me by car. My father works as a public transport car driver. At school I worked on counting, reading and during sports we played football, badminton and several other games. After graduating from school I rarely met friends who had not met or communicated with them for a long time. In 2004, the Tsunami occurred in Aceh, Indonesia, at that time my father took a group of Hajj pilgrims to Banda Aceh, Indonesia.

To be precise, Sunday morning I was watching television at home. I heard neighbors screaming saying that there was an earthquake and tsunami. At that time millions of people died and I remembered my father who was still in Banda Aceh. That's exactly where the extraordinary tsunami occurred. At that time the electricity went out and it was difficult to contact Dad because of telephone network connection problems. Mother cried, remembering father's condition, of which there had been no news. A few days later, my father returned home safely.

When I was little, I could only play cars, bicycles and several other games with friends. At school I went to the photo studio to print photos for school purposes. At that time there were only black and white photos and to take these photos you had to wait a few eighth days. Unlike today, it only takes a few minutes for photos to be ready to be washed. I only keep photos from when I was at school and my mother kept these photos well in the cupboard.

Now I am an adult and have a family. I already have two children, a boy and a girl. I already know how to look after a small child who is growing and developing. That's how my parents looked after me before.

You spent your childhood in a village where many of you would go out to play and at night you would watch television with your family, then you would go to your grandparent's house. Moved to the city where you started your life again and then your father was a transport driver so he used to pick you up from school and drop you off and also you spent your childhood. Then I spent all my time here and you used to go to your friend's house to watch television, but your father brought the television to your house and see, I like it very much that your father bought it for you. I was very happy to see that you were very good in fighting and sports, and you also told about the Earthquake that when you were young, you were eight years old, then the Earthquake came. His father was also in the same city where he was kept and you were not getting a telephone call from the caller. I liked seeing that there are also children.

Your childhood memories are touching, especially your experience during the Tsunami and the challenges faced during the war. It is impressive how you remember details like watching TV at a friend house and your father caring gestures. Your story truly captures both the hardships and joys of growing up in your village.
