I woke up at 6am today and had my teeth cleaned up and also fixed up the bed, washed the plates and all that to keep the house tidy and i love doing these chores with my favorite music playing in the background to keep my mind in the moment. I know others are put there who also do as i do

All of us in the laboratory

The laboratory was cleaned and we had made an anticoagulant for a blue capped test tube that is the kind of production we need for #cameroon, so that we can make our own anticoagulants and put them to the test against international products and also reduce costs of importation.

Taking blood out from a donor

Today we had to work with blood and this was on thin blood films. How to make thin blood film on a slide was the lecture of today but before that we learned how to make Trisodium EDTA which was another type of anticoagulant which is ised in the purple capped tube. I will be delighted to blog about the different tube types in the the community so that we all learn about them and what they are used for.

If you stick with me long enough, you will learn alot and be able to teach others as well. Making a thin blood film is not as easy as it seems, you need to place your arms and fingers at precise places and also place your spreader at 45° to the slide you are spreading your blood on.

Thin blood films are used for parasite observation in blood, used for full blood counts, and used for differential counts. And when a blood is spread well, you will have the best results under the microscope. I will go further in the details when i will be posting on my next health blogs so you stay tuned.

After the class, i went amd got me some lunch. It was acra, fried fish and some egg roll. This sumptuous meal filled my stomache long enough for me to reach home at 3pm and left again at 5pm to welcome my sister in law to Bamenda. After that i came back home a bit late at 7pm and had my dinner at 9pm. It was groundnut soul and sweet potatoes.

Later that night i retired for bed, this was a great day for me since i got to learn new things which i will be delighted to teach you all soon.
