The thought of telling someone good bye forever is the most painful, and like it or not we're all going to experience that moment one day or another. Well Wednesday was the day I experienced mine just that it was with my Great Grand Uncle.
How my day went |
---|
The morning breaks and I was waiting for the call from my Mom saying that she has arrived but to no avail coupled with the fact that there was no electricity my phone went off and so I had to visit my cousin's place to charge them.
Once I got to my cousin's place, they made me breakfast and it was bread and tea which was delicious by the way, while I was eating I was checking my phone which was on charge to see if I've been contacted yet my my Mom. It was only when I finished eating that I got a call from from my Mom. Telling me to come meet her at the place of the funeral.
I went to meet her at the house which was at Ntarinkon market just opposite Oscar shop were she was cooking. She travelled over night and reached that morning and still struggled to make that meal which was Water fufu and Eru which she bought from Southwest. She spent about 150 STEEM for all her expenses for the food and 30 STEEM for transportation to Bamenda
While my Mom was cooking I went inside to mourn with the berieved which was my Grand Aunt there she was seated in the parlor discussing with her invitees who also came to mourn with her as well. The preparations were still going on so I couldn't stay longer inside the parlor so I went out to put up the canopies.
Raising canopies is a 4 to 6 man job and so far we were just 5 of us so we could work on the job raising the canopies requires that you be careful not to get cut yourself or hit someone else it took us 45 minutes to raise up 2 canopies. After the canopies were raised,.My mom and I went back to my place so that she could rest before returning for the funeral ceremony which was to take place at 5pm in the evening.
By 6pm we were back to the funeral ground because Mom had to rest longer than she wanted. We had our seats and waited for the program to unfold and having some food and discussions as we wait.
I don't know if it's good to smile at a funeral but I know that it's good to always smile no matter what life throws at you that's why I smile and I hope y'all do the same.
The day came to an end from here as all we did was dance and drink till the dark came, we left from the funeral home at 9pm to the house.
