2๏ธโฃ ๐ฆ๐ฃ๐๐๐ ๐ง๐๐ ๐ง๐ฅ๐จ๐ง๐: Oftentimes, Doctors and Nurses ask so many questions that patients often grow weary and may not answer truthfully, especially when the patient doesn't see the relationship between the question and the current health problem.
Although some of the questions may seem unrelated to your current problem, they are essential to get an overall evaluation of your health and plan appropriate care.
E.g. most female patients do not like answering the question "๐ฌ๐๐๐ฃ ๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ค๐ช ๐ก๐๐จ๐ฉ ๐จ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ค๐ช๐ง ๐ข๐๐ฃ๐จ๐๐จ?" especially when their problem is not reproductive. However, this question is very essential as some medications including Ciprofloxacine (often used to treat Typhoid fever) can cause fetal malformations.
I remember once when a patient swore to me he doesn't drink alcohol and I placed him on a medication Prednisolone for his Arthritis. He returned a few weeks later with severe intestinal bleeding from an ulcer. This was caused by an interaction between the medication and alcohol.
Rather than answer a question untruthfully, it's better to ask the significance of the question or tell the care provider you are unwilling to answer the question (if you are a nurse and a patient tells you this, assume worst case scenario and proceed).
