A happy new week to you all from me, @destinedhanik from Nigeria. Happy new month to you all. I always happy to be here and to share my experiences as a teacher. Learning is in different aspects. Today, I wanna share on my visit with my students to Ibom power plant.
First of all, Ibom power plant isa gas plant owed by the Akwa Ibom state government and it is located at Ikot Abasi local government. It is a gas fired power plant and sine the students have been learning theoretically, it was decided that the practical learning should be applied which was a visit to the gas station and a day was fixed for it.
On the D-day, the students were very excited and came out early enough. We were supposed to leave to the gas plant by 8am but we ended up leaving by 11am and arrived at about 1pm.

On our way
We did not meet any hinderance on our way and we reached the Ibom gas plant at few minutes after 12. The director, Mr Meyen Etukudo and staff of Ibom power plant received us well and took us in where staff and students were given a seat and the running of the power plant was explained to us.

The visit was aimed at providing the students with practical knowledge and insight into the operations of a power generation facility.
Upon arrival at the power plant, the students were warmly received by the plant's management and staff. There was a comprehensive presentation on the overview of the plant's operations, capacity, and contributions to the national grid.
The students were then taken on a guided tour of the facility, led by experienced engineers and technicians. They were shown various sections of the plant, including:
• Control room.
• The nerve center of the plant where real-time monitoring and control of power generation take place.
• Generator Hall where the massive turbines convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.
The students were fascinated by the sheer scale and complexity of the power plant's operations.
We learnt that Ibom power station is an operating power station of 572 megawatts (MW). The students asked insightful questions and engaged in discussions with the plant's staff, demonstrating their keen interest. The students witnessed firsthand the importance of safety protocols and emergency response measures in place at the plant.
I also learnt some things. I learnt that the different helmet with different colours are given to different people for different purposes.
•The orange helmet signifies danger and it only used by professionals and this means they can enter anywhere in the power plant.
•The green helmet is used by engineers
• The white helmet is used only by visitors

We finally left at about 5pm and arrived at school at some minutes after 7. The students and staff were all stressed but we had a wonderful day learning by sight.
When I got home, it was late and I made dinner and ate and rested for the day.
The visit to IBOM Power Plant was an enriching experience for the students, providing them with valuable practical knowledge and insight into the power generation industry. Thank you for having me here.
