Greeting Steemit Family
Here is something I am still trying to understand, especially when I see students coming around the office for research work and carrying out projects. When I give small projects to my interns, I see everyone having their own approach to handling it. I prefer reading to watching videos when it comes to learning. It is something I will get to encourage a lot of students who come around me and maybe you will read my post. Reading might be too truthful. It lengthens and tiring sometimes.
Yeah. That is because a lot of details have been put together. When you read, you can record more in your subconscious and you have the possibility to stop and reflect. Next, you are reading at your pace, which will permit you to read at your speed. Normally I have the impression that reading slowly is more absorbing and easy to get the context in the text.
When you read, you can have the chance to lay your hands on other relevant materials or references which can be of great help and even boost your understanding of what you are reading. As I mentioned above, Reading gives you in-depth information about the content you are reading and stays on the topic. Reading helps you to focus and build your level of concentration as you stay focused trying to understand what you are reading.
Next, some will want to choose to watch YouTube videos. I will be asking myself why. Then again it is the quickest learning method you can find. That is because videos are well structured and starting to the point. It becomes interesting when you are watching a topic that will require a practical demonstration. I have come to notice this with the young developer, and it takes a lot to ask them to read. A lot of individuals think videos are a more friendly way of learning, as you can feel yourself working through the process. The fact that they see someone on the screen, the viewer has that personal touch in learning.
Now, which do you prefer? What you learn and why you learn it will help you pick which method to pick. While I encourage reading over videos, that is my preference.
For quick and basic information on the topic, videos and the easy way to go around it. You will easily pick the concepts and make use of other people's brains. With videos, you will not have to worry to think or reflect.
Now if you want to have the in-depth details of a topic, reading is the best option. Books and articles have a structure, that is an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. While you have to go at your own pace, you have the time to reflect and have a better understanding of the context. Statistics have shown that most videos are always a section of a context as compared to books.
To conclude, it is all left to you to decide which to use and when to. Information is key and never stops learning. While I can't stop you from depending on videos, I will encourage you to merge the two. You will have a better understanding of any context when you make use of the two.
Share with me, which method you often use during personal learning.
Cheers

Reading is fun but recently I prefer watching anything as video,it gives me more inner understanding than manual reading.

Videos build the images in your mind, and you will miss out on the basics of the topic you are watching as compared to if you are reading. True, we can easily remember the images in our subconscious mind, but the basic concept of the topic makes us professional in the domain.
Most videos are specific, and you will be learning from the presenter's point of view and understanding. Truth be told, a lot of sections will be cut out or will hurry to talk about to get to the subject matter. That is videos for me, but reading can be more detailed and informative
