Mydiary game: Saturday 23/10/2021

Good evening fellow steemians,

I write this evening to let you have glimpse of how my day has been. As usual, i began my day with morning prayers with my family. After our morning prayers, i prepared breakfast for myself and my wife.

The next thing i did was move to the office where i spent sometime reading.

What i am actually eagerly to do right now is share with you some fascinating about reading that challenged me today.

Books are for reading, but it is necessary to read only what can be assimilated. Boasting to have read a good number of books without assimilating them is nothing more than a deliberate waste of time.
Reading without assimilating can be likened to eating without digestion. According to
Francis Bacon, somebody should only read books on those areas in which he is insufficiciently acquainted;
yet he should be selective in his reading. It is no good just trying to fill your mind with knowledge.
Knowledge in itself is often useless. A mind overloaded with uncoordinated knowledge is like a room filled with furniture; a man cannot walk about freely in it, and look out of the windows.

A good example to learn from is the camel grazing.

You will see that although it is supposed to be one of the most stupid animals in creation, it has at least one of the characteristics of a cultured animal and the the power to pick and choose what to eat. The camel wanders about and grazes from here and then there, sometimes from one tree to another or from one bush to another. He bites off a twig, chews a bit and if he likes it, he takes another bite. If he finds it tasteless or bitter, he leaves it and wanders to another tree. Sometimes after trying several leaves and plants. he comes back to the first one. In the end he will probably sit down and chew it over.
Mental chewing over is a very good process for a man as physIcal chewing over is for a camel.

So, be selective in your reading.
