Peace is an ultimate tool for any community which will enable them to be sustainable. The International day of Peace is a day set aside by the #UN inline with the #SDG's and celebrated worldwide on the 21st of September. We celebrated a little earlier in our town because of the level of insecurity we experience "ghost-towns". All official pictures will therefore be shared on this day to keep the dignity of the celebration. We had a flyer to publicize the workshop. Sysy House of Fame an arts organization under the control of @peacemaker gave us their space. We will be forever grateful to them for impacting young lives in their own little way.

FLYER FOR THE EVENT

Dance for Development on this day felt an obligation to gather young persons and share their thoughts on hate actions, hate speech, violence and possible mitigation measures. With the mentorship of @peacemaker we were able to plan an execute a two day workshop on Peace building in our communities. We equally stressed on the aspect of preventive measure on #covid19. No one was part of the workshop without a face mask. It was quite an interesting period which featured the following activities;

BEGINNING THE WORKSHOP WITH A WELCOME WORD

All on the agenda of violence and war causes and how they can be limited. We involved all the participants in fully giving their opinions for that is where it all starts, your opinion.

☆ How do you tackle hate words or actions thrown at you?
☆ What do you do to the instigator?
☆ What do you do when you find two persons portraying violence to one another?
☆ How long does it take for you to give up a grudge on someone?

These are all questions that we need to use for daily self evaluation, we are not perfect. Cameroon for 5 years now has been in a socio-economic crises which has paralyzed development, kill, wounded and displaced thousands. All these will have been better off if the citizens here posed the above questions to themselves even once a month. It prevails because of the "hear say" syndrome which is most often fake news, insults and quarter fights. You can name the rest of course.

Young people and Arts come in in their own little way to show the example of doing it better and spreading the positive energy. This we are sure was taken in by 35 young persons. Imagine the effects if 100, 1000, 10000 persons can have this feeling.
It can only move faster with our media, with a big and impactful one as Steemit.

Say The Steemit Peace Campaign....

Happy Celebration wherever you find yourself. We need to celebrate everyday because we need peace everyday.
