Warm Greetings Steemians! An Inspiring Day of Public Speaking Training
I hope we all had a wonderful day.
Mine was certainly well-spent. I woke up at 4:30 am and spent an hour and a half reading a book titled "Focal Point" by Brian Tracy. Following that, at 6:05 am, I kicked off my day with an intensive 27-minute workout routine using Billy Blanks' Tae Bo 30 Minutes Extreme workout. Feeling energized, I showered and got ready for work.
At work, we had the pleasure of welcoming student leaders from the University of Bamenda (UBA) who participated in a public speaking training session. This scholarship program is offered by the Texas Institute of Public Speaking (TIPS). The remarkable Coach Oliver Nshom, founder of the African Inclusive Institute of Public Speaking (AIIPS) and co-founder of TIPS, led the session. TIPS, a public speaking training institute headquartered in Odessa, Texas, was founded by Nshom and James Kernan, an American speaker and author. Impressively, TIPS has a branch in Africa, located right here in Bamenda City.
The training, which began at 8:30 am and concluded at 1:00 pm, was both exhilarating and interactive. The participants were highly engaged and posed insightful questions. Among the attendees were two particularly passionate and intelligent young women who are visually impaired. Their enthusiasm and unwavering determination to learn and grow truly inspired me. Their presence prompted me to question my own excuses.
What excuses do I have that hold me back from achieving my full potential? These remarkable women, despite their visual impairment, travel long distances to attend trainings and develop their skills. Their story is a powerful reminder that anything is possible with dedication and perseverance.
Conclusion
This encounter with the UBA students, particularly the two visually impaired women, served as a wake-up call. Their semangat (Indonesian for "spirit" or "enthusiasm") reignited my own passion and challenged me to confront my limitations. Let us all strive to overcome our excuses and pursue our goals with unwavering determination.
