Steem greetings everyone
Good evening to y’all.
I’m about sharing with you guys how my day of today went and at the end I’ll sharing the continuation of my research proposal as I have been doing in my previous post.
I woke up at 4a.m this morning and had breakfast together with my mum and kid sister
By 5:30a.m I prayed and began my house. When I was done with the chores I took my bath and got dressed for school.
We had classes till noon when I had to come back home and cook my mum had bought all the necessary ingredients and boiled meat so I just had to come and join her in the kitchen let’s cook.
Guess what we were cooking???🌝
The famous Cameroon dish Achu and yellow soup😋
Mum bought all the necessary ingredients for the dish, we had;
- Cocoyams
- palm oil
- Achu spice
- maggi cubes
- meat
- Canda
- huckleberry
- garden egg
- fresh red and yellow pepper 🌶
- Some unripe plantain
The ingredients for the dish.
Mum and I did the cooking and by 5pm we were done, then I put some of the Achu and gave to our neighbors. I showered and prayed then dished my big brothers food, it’s one of my brother’s favorite so he asked me to dish his with a lot of obstacles

I stopped at the level of the signs and symptoms of Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and today I’ll continue with the ways to prevent PPH.
Prevention of postpartum hemorrhage
Active management of the third stage of labor has become a central component of the PPH reduction strategy. In preventing postpartum hemorrhage, AMTSL consist of interventions designed to facilitate delivery of the placenta by increasing uterine contractions and preventing PPH.
To help prevent postpartum hemorrhage during delivery, clinicians should take appropriate steps during active management of the third stage of labor referred to as AMTSL. AMTSL is an acronym for Active management of third stage of labor and it is a prophylactic and effective intervention to ensure smooth expulsion of the placenta and prevention of PPH. AMTSL is a method of shortening the stage between when the baby is born and when the placenta is delivered. Active management involves giving a drug (oxytocin) which will help the uterus contract before delivering the placenta, and there is a gentle but sustained pull on the umbilical cord while exerting upward pressure on the lower abdomen to support the uterus.
Reexamination of patient vital signs and vaginal flow before the woman lives the delivery area may help detect slow steady bleeding.
Preventive measures that will reduce incidence of PPH.
Uterine assessment
The fundus is assessed immediately following delivery of the baby, excluding diagnosed twin and giving a baseline fundal height. The fundus is periodically assessed to determine when uterine contraction occurs at which control cord traction is applied, oxytocin-induced contractions are periodic. Periodic assessment of the uterus also serves to detect signs of placenta separation and to assess whether an atonic uterus is becoming distended with blood. If uterine signs of placenta separation are present, the clot has lengthened but no gust of blood has occurred and the placenta remains undelivered, the placenta may have been detached but remains at the level of the internal OS. Assessment also involves checking the placenta and the membrane for completeness.
Lower genital tract should be carefully examined for lacerations and signs of hematoma. Hematoma or uterine rupture should be suspected where there are signs and symptoms of excessive blood loss.
Fundal massage
Following birth of the placenta continued uterine contraction should be confirmed using fundal palpation. Palpation may sometimes be necessary to maintain uterine tone.
Thanks for reading and I’m open for any questions.
