How to cultivate cabbage for consumption

Hello Beautiful steemian I wish to share with you how to cultivate our cabbage as followed.

- plan cabbage at the right time: the favourable place to cultivate your cabbage is in cool temperatures  ,it will not form if it is cultivated on heater area or frost areas ,it is good in areas of spring this vegetable grow best during winter season,the seed it is mostly nursed during August to December,transplanting take place when the weather begin to cool down slightly as early as the end of September through the end of January.  

• grow cabbage in the best location :. Cabbage form well during rich soil apply compost and nitrogen before planting to encourage leafy growth choose and area with full sun although cabbage prefers cooler temperatures it requires plenty of sun shine to grow well

• give cabbage enough room; plan 1 cabbage per square otherwise space plans 12-18 inches apart depending on the variety

• plant healthy seedlings for the best cabbage give cabbage a good start of life, choose small and tights transplant and advoid legy or overgrown transplant seedlings that are over grown or late planting may not form head and produced but flowers instead ,when planting bury the sterm up to just below the first set of leaves.
  

• learn how to prevent and treat cabbage pest and disease, cabbage seems to a magnet for some pest and diseases such as cabbage warm , cutwarms snails ,that destroyed the leaves and cause them not to form leaves below are some method use to prevent pest
  a) plants onions, radishes and nasturtium near cabbage to help deter pests
  b) to protect against cutwarms place protect collet
  c) hand pick caterpillar morning and evening
  d) spray cabbage if Infected with caterpillar with pecozeb or planntinem
  Cabbage do not need rotational season to prevent the build up of soil born disease ,rotate it after 3yearsor can some other crops can be cultivated in the peace of land before planting cabbage in thesame plot removed and destroyed affected plan to prevent disease remove the entire plan after havesting rather than leaving the roots in the ground

• provide even water for cabbage,it requires regular watering uneven watering can result to cracked head ,spilt ,heat mulch will help keep the soil cool and return moisture

• dont let cabbage go hungry : cabbage is heavy feeder it deplet the soil quickly feed young plan with a fish emulion and seaweed two weeks after feed again 3weeks later and feed monthly through out the growing season

• havest cabbage correctly : cabbage is ready to after 80 to 180 days when grown from seed and it is approximately 65 to 105 days if grown to transplant .
