This is a situation where by the value of biophysical environment is affected by a combination of human activities such as agriculture,industrialisation ,overgrazing ,deforestation,acting upon the land this can be an important issue to tackle now as our agricultural productivity is affected by series of activities in the land were the bio ecosystem leading to affect food security as a result of increase in population. Where the authority put in effort to combat food insecurity which affect the agricultural system however the following are the causes of land degradation

Desforestation this refer to cutting down of trees either for timber expioltation or agricultural activities ,construction o house and many others as well ,this forest or trees have a role in the fertility of the soil , which the leaves of this trees contain. Nutrients ,in the soil not only the leaves of the trees but also the roots of these trees ,help in binding up the soil particle there by increasing the fertility of the soil therefore taking away this trees it will affect the soil negatively.

Excessive use of fertilizer and peticide
As a result of increase in population. ,which has lead to food insecurity, farmers in the bid to increase productivity to merit good insecurity the farmers turn to use modern method of farming which involves the use of fertilizer and peticide'in the soil which cause soil unbalance , which is a threat to the environment,also the use of this fertilizer kills nutrients I. The soil leading to land degreadation . excessive use of perticide will eventually increase the level of resistance by certain pests and it may kill some specie's of the soil like earth warm which helps in maintaining soil fertility.

Overgrazing
Increase in the demand for meat milk as a result of overpopulation which lead to the demand for more pasture for the livestock which this livestock are to consume for survivor and increase in size leading to lack of vegetation cover resulting to soil erosion ,most people especially the mborrow community and the far north of Cameroon raise animal on pasture which have low carrying capacity this land are threaten by land degradation
