Hello beautiful steemians, hope we are all doing great.
Its a festive period where the meaning of Christmas has changed from celebrating the birth of Christ to a period when girls lost their virginity, so many sins are committed. The end product of numerous pregnancies are evident as from February and March. Then you will see so many young girls running to the hospital needing abortion. This can be prevented and i hope its taken Seriously. Today i will be talking about emergency contraceptives to prevent pregnancy.

EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTIVE

This simply means, contraceptive that is taken at the spot to prevent pregnancy. It is necessary in the following cases.

  • those that have never been on family planning and had sex without proper protection.
  • incase of burst condom
  • when the normal family planning method is not correctly followed.

Emergency contraceptives should be taken within 72hrs from the time of sexual activity. If this period is exceeded, it may cause health damages like;

  • etopic pregnancy
  • miscarriage
  • a malformed embryo
  • excessive bleeding etc

Normally this type of contraceptive should not be choose as the main type of contraceptive that is it shouldn't be taking everyday or week as most girls do. If you need family planning then you can choose any other regular methods like

  • pills (everyday)
  • depo (injectables for 3 months).
  • jadelle (implant for 5 years).
    These are the most available and accessible methods of family planning.
    There are other methods such as IUD, patch, vasectomy, hysterectomy etc but these are more complicated methods.

Types of Emergency contraceptives

There are somany different types of emergency contraceptives with different trade name but most of them have the active ingredient of levernogestrel in different milligrams.

The 2 most common are ; postinor 2 tablets and mestrogen tablets.

  • Postinor 2 tablets; its presentation is normally 2 small tablets that's normally taken at once. It should be taken within 72hrs.
    Some side effects that i have experienced with patients include;
  • heavy bleeding during menstruation
  • intermittent bleeding before menstruation
  • some people may experience cramps
  • irregular menstruation.
    Postinor 2 has been known for its efficacy.

    Source
  • menstrogen tablets : this usually comes as small tablets too but this is more complicated than postinor 2. It is used to treat other menstrual problems and regulaate hormones thus this should be taken with medical advice.

    menstrogen

Above all i wish christmas can be celebrated with all sexual purity, a season of love. The greatest love we can show Christ is to honor is birth and acknowledge His course by dedicating ourselves to Jesus.

prevention is better than cure, take preventive methods today to save a future and avoid complications

Note; all contraceptive have negative impact that is experienced individually.

Stafe save...
Merry Christmas
