Assalamu Alaikum friends. how are you all? I hope all are well. I'm fine too. Today I'm going to take part in a great competition from the Steem Cameroon community. The competition is organized by @steem-cameroon. The main theme of the competition is National or International Awareness Day Competition (S5-W07). Today I will present to you about 21 February International Mother Language Day where I will explain the significance of this day and its impact on the lives of Bangladeshis. Hope you like it.
21st February is a prestigious day for Bangladesh which is considered as International Mother Language Day and the day has been recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as National Martyrs Day. The day is marked by the martyrdom of the brave sons of Bangladesh for the establishment of Bengali as the state language of the then East Pakistan (present Bangladesh). This is the only day of sacrifice for the mother tongue in the history of mankind. For this significance, UNESCO has declared 21st February as International Mother Language Day to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
In November 1999, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced International Mother Language Day. The day was inspired by Bangladesh. 21st February, 1952 marks the date when Bengalis fought for the recognition of their language. International Mother Language Day is observed on 21 February as we raise awareness to the world about linguistic diversity and the importance of multilingualism in life.
In Bangladesh this day is celebrated with full dignity, which is in no way less than Independence Day. Shaheed Minar is next to the University of Dhaka. Since the dawn of the Language Day, many people have gathered there. Everyone gives garlands of flowers. They filled the chaturdik with songs in memory of the language martyrs. Verses of poetry are recited in memory of language martyrs in their voices. A large number of people joined the morning march and march. Flowers are offered at the graves of martyrs and at the Shaheed Minar.
To observe the day, people from all over the world march barefoot towards the martyrs' memorial in traditional dress to pay tribute to the martyrs and sing songs. The day is observed throughout Bangladesh, with special celebrations at the central Shaheed Minar. Apart from Bangladesh, this day is celebrated with great pride in West Bengal and Tripura as well. The day is celebrated with various festivals, programs, seminars, lectures.
Mother tongue is a suitable medium for the development of ethnicity of every nation. Without mother tongue, self-identity and self-esteem cannot be enriched. Therefore, every ethnic group in the world values their mother tongue. The nation should move forward based on the dignity of the mother tongue. In this process, the subject is faced with race problems. What has happened to our Bengali nation? February 21 is a day of mourning on the one hand, a day of pride on the other. A cultural movement to establish the language evolved into a freedom movement. It is through the struggle to establish mother tongue that our independence movement is strengthened.
The successful outcome of the movement led by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib was the realization of independent and sovereign Bangladesh. The history of the paradigm of sacrifice for language is anointed with international status. Bengali's self-sacrifice to protect the dignity of the mother tongue has made the nation proud by writing a glorious history, though sad. Salute to martyrs.
21st February is a memorable, traditional, significant, important, significant and glorious day in the national life of Bengali. Why is that day so important in our life, because the source of all consciousness in our life is that day 21st February 1952. February 21st is memorable for the language movement and will be forever. Because on this day, the United Nations declared 21st February as 'International Mother Language Day' to commemorate this event of sacrifice for mother tongue.
As a result of UN recognition, 21st February is being celebrated as International Mother Language Day all over the world. The status of International Mother Language Day on February 21, 1999 is not only the world victory of Bengali; The victory of all the mother tongues of the world.
By realizing the importance of International Mother Language Day, we will be able to spread the sense of global brotherhood. All the efforts of the people of Bangladesh should be continued to increase the use of Bengali at all levels of knowledge. Every Bengali should play a responsible role to spread the spirit of Ekush throughout the world. Through the spread of Bengali language, Bengalis will become a unique and strong nation in the world.
