Importance of Forest Education to the Young Generation

Today I will be sharing with you the importance of forest eduction to our kids and the young generation. Basically they are the next generation and we have to do all to teach them how to sustainably manage the forest resources so that after them the next generation can benefit. So to educate them on the importance of a forest is a great move on forest protection and conservation.

Teaching the young to plant trees

Global impacts like climate change and increase temperatures have caused a lot of changes on the variation on seasons. The rains now start either too early or late and also the increase in water scarcity. The uncontrolled exploitation of plants and animal have led to a dramatic reduction and lost of some plant species. This have how ever affected crop production leading to low yield and a reduction in the living standards of the people.

Planting trees for carbon sink

Environmental problems increased because of no right information or education on forest role, the responsibility of protecting and conserving the forest. It has been noticed that there is persistent bush fires which reduce the amount of young plants, illegal harvesting of forest resources, cutting down of wet trees for construction and carving and increase of farmland to the forest thus reducing and encouraging deforestation.

The forest communities are not sometimes having the power to restrict exploitation, no monitoring and evaluation on newly plant tress, the remoteness of the forest area, competition from other forest products and insufficient knowledge on forest protection have led to a reduction and over exploitation of the forest.
The forest is important for its culture purposes, provide firewood, fresh air, carbon sink, water production, food, soil stability and for animals

Educating the young ones to be nature lovers in planting and protecting the forest is a way forward to reduce illegal and over exploitation. For these to be effective, community radio forest education must be done, forest visits, school visits and seminars on forest education, bee farming and presentation of forest pictures. Some other forest education activities can be done via nursing of trees, planting and creation of signpost for forest education. All these can help protect the forest.
