Limiting methane emissions: How industries can counter a major climate threat

Greetings to all my steemians. Today I will love to share with you the influence of methane a green house gas to climate change. Many do think it’s only CO2 but most of the waste we produced and dump around is made of methane and it’s already the second largest GHG.

Empowering youths on the human causes of climate Change.

Global temperatures have continue to rise and climate hazards are becoming frequent and intense. A good number of organizations are trying to reduce the greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions. Carbon dioxide is the main GHG but methane production from human activity are becoming the second-largest global warming gas and right now accounts for almost 30 percent of the temperature increase. Checking such emissions of methane will therefore help to solved the net-zero equation by reducing GHG emissions of GHG as much as possible.

The methane gas emissions have increase by almost 25 percent in the past years. The present focus is far than the 2 percent annual decline that would be needed to meet the 1.5°C warming objectives of the Paris Agreement.New McKinsey research proves that industries could reduce global annual methane emissions by approximately 20 percent by 2030 which is a significant shift toward a 1.5°C warming. All these can be possible if we established technologies which are at a reasonable cost.

These industries that produce more of these methane gas include

  • agriculture
  • oil and gas
  • coal mining
  • solid-waste management
  • wastewater management.
This post focuses more on methane’s impact on the climate, important ways to limit emissions, and ways that industries can take to start managing methane effectively. To reduce methane emissions is good so that we can stop climate change but some limitations stand in the way.

The global temperatures within 2021 are 1.1°C higher with man methane emissions accounting for 30 percent of that heat. With increase in such temperatures, there is a fear that climate feedbacks could increase the warming impact of methane from sources in the wetlands, and landfills.

Courage bro the government need to go in for other source of energy to avoid the burning of fossil fuels that destroyed our ozone lawyer

Thanks for the information.
Can this green house gas NGO teach on how to convert methane to ethane or non poisonous gases?
Thanks

Nice one sir

These GHG can be reduced only though human activities. Creating awareness is very crucial.

Climate change has been a major thread to mankind and if not checked, the globe wouldn't be a safe place to live at all.
