Why must we eat? How are we able to work around, scream and play all day. On TV the players run round the football pitch like horses, oh speaking of horses how are they able to gallop so powerfully......they answer to this questions lie in one word and that is ENERGY.

What Energy Is

Energy is simply the ability to do work, it is what keeps the world moving. Energy is ever present in the world and never seems to finish, after all you cannot create energy neither can you destroy it. It has always existed and is a constant.

Sources of Energy

We have sources of energy that make work possible and they are those that produce energy in the universe(Sources of Energy). They are;

  • Solar Energy: this is the most primary of all energy, it is the energy from the sun.

  • Fossil Energy: this refers to energy gotten from dead and decaying matter which has been compressed by the earth and bedrocks. A major example is the energy gotten from Crude oil.

  • Hydroelectric Energy: This is the energy gotten from Water which flows through big turbines. Ever heard of a dam?
    That is hydroelectric energy.

  • Nuclear Energy; man's quest for knowledge lead him to discover that atoms of some elements can be brought together (fusion) or destroyed (fission) which will produce a large amount of energy capable of powering a whole country.....amazing isn't it?

Forms of Energy

Though source and forms of energy may sound alike, there's a marked difference. Let's look at it this way;

Look at the sky, if I ask, what's that creature that flies with wings? You definitely would say a bird. However if you look closely, they are differences amongst them even amongst those of the same kind.

So is energy, energy can exist in different forms. It can exist in a thunder bolt as electrical energy or in an oven as heat energy. It can even exist while your just sleeping as potential energy or while your trekking as kinetic energy.

Energy Conservation; What, How and Why

What it is

Though Energy cannot be created or destroyed, you shouldn't mess with it either as it may lead to pollution, death,
Climate change and many other crisis that makes mother earth groan in pains. So we must use energy wisely and conservatively.

Why conserve
some of the benefits of using energy wisely are:

  • Using energy wisely helps fight against climate change.
  • We would be able to breathe fresh air without worrying about toxic gases and carbon compounds which are dangerous to our respiratory health.
  • natural resources, like coal, oil, and gas are limited (they would eventually be exhausted) hence, conservation helps them to remain for a longer while.
  • Conservation saves money for individuals and businesses. E.g using a solar plant to power ones house is way cheaper and more environment friendly than buying fuels.
    .
  • Conservation new jobs in renewable energy industries, like solar and wind power.
How to Conserve
  • Turn off lights when leaving a room, don't waste energy.

  • Unplug electronics when not in use.

  • Set your thermostat(A/C's and heater) to a comfortable but not excessive temperature.

  • Use natural light instead of artificial light whenever possible.

  • Use power-saving modes on electronics.

  • Wash clothes in cold water instead of hot, After all you will need energy to boil the water.

  • Turn off water taps when not in use. (Even if it's abundant don't waste it)

  • Plant trees and shrubs. Help mother nature keep the energy cycle going.

These are simple, everyday actions that can make a big difference in energy consumption and save our planet.

Conclusion

Finally, Conservation is good for us, it's good for the planet, and good for the economy.

I hoped you learnt a lot. Your comments, criticisms and views are highly welcomed.

Till then;
I love y'all
