Vaginal health is the state in which the vagina is health wise. It is following the do’s and don’t about taking care of the vagina. Today I will be talking about two infections that affect our bodies which includes the vagina. These infections are the herpes simplex virus and the yeast infection.

Herpes Simplex

This is a virus causing contagious sores mostly around the mouth and vagina. Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease marked by pains, itching and sores around the genital. After contracting this disease it stays dormant in the body and surfaces months later. Herpes has no cure and even without signs it can still spread. Herpes occurs in outbreaks, that is it surfaces, disappears and surfaces again after some time. Antiviral drugs like aciclovir tablets can shorten outbreaks and increase the time of reoccurrence. 4 in every 10 women have herpes.

Yeast Infection

This is a type of infection caused by the fungus candida. It is characterized by intense itchiness and thick white discharge from the vagina. Yeast is already present in our bodies, our immune system keeps it at bay. It becomes more intense when it over concentrates in a particular area and the immunity there cannot control it. Yeast isn’t sexually transmitted but the chemistry from the concentration of your partners yeast cell can affect yours. It can be treated with drugs like fluconazole, monistat cream or suppository. It takes days to clear off but if you have had it for a long time your treatment may be longer.

I have this friend who had been having itches and some virginal discomfort. Feeling shy to go to an actual hospital and see a doctor she decided to consult locally. This physician did not carry out tests and just concluded she had herpes. Her boyfriend did not have it so she wondered where she got it from. Nevertheless she was taking the herpes drugs for some months but they weren’t clearing off.
So she finally took the courage to go to an actual hospital and what she had wasn’t herpes, it was yeast infection. She was given drugs and the discomfort stopped in just some days.
Being properly diagnosed is very important. It saves you from a lot of circumstances. Doctors are sworn to patient confidentiality so we should try to have a little faith in them.

My Advice

  • Abstinence is always the best way but you want to be sexually active we should stick to one partner.
  • You and your partner should be tested at least twice a year.
  • Try to always use protection.
  • If you have symptoms please see a real doctor for your own safety.
  • Stay healthy physically and mentally.

Thanks for audience.
