Sup weedcash,
Hope you enjoy this DIY as much as i did!
Build your own grow room
Okay, you've decided to start growing your own cannabis. Good choice! Growing your own cannabis that you always have beautiful weed on hand. In addition, it provides more appreciation for the plant and gives satisfaction. It is well known that spending time in the garden is just as useful as meditating. It gives you a sense of well-being and helps against anxiety and depression.
If you want to grow cannabis at home, you must have a space for it. To have enough weed between two harvests, you need at least 1m². You can place a number of smaller plants or one or two well-trained or even scrubbed, larger plants on top. That is entirely up to you. The final yield is about the same, it just depends on you want a lot of variety, with greater yields per plant, or less variation and greater yields per plant. You can decide that yourself.
The height of a grow room depends on the available space and the lighting used. A square meter can be sufficiently illuminated with most grow lights. The height is smaller if you use fluorescents. You can then hang the lamps closer to the plants. With HID lighting, however, you need to keep more distance from your cannabis. Otherwise she will burn and the room will get too hot. You may want to spoil your cuties with a HID of 1000W, but if the space isn't high enough, that's just not possible.
CHOOSING A SPACE
Everyone has a square meter somewhere in their house or apartment. Guest rooms, basements, attics, closets and walk-in closets; you can use them all as a grow room. That is why discretion is essential; you have to take into account the noise of the fan, light nuisance and odor control when choosing a room. A vibrating fan attached to an intermediate wall, for example, will make your neighbors crazy about the sound and vibrations.

LIGHT PROTECTION
It is imperative that the room is light-resistant. The leakage of light is often irritating, because grow lights are extremely bright. If light escapes, you can keep it awake at night. For example, if your grow room is a bedroom closet. Worst case scenario, the whole neighborhood knows you are growing weed.
In addition, leakage of light in the grow room can have a negative effect on the performance of your plants. Once they have switched to the 12-12 day / night cycle for the flowering phase, this sometimes causes them to become confused. This can lead to a lower yield, hermaphroditism or even a failed harvest due to light stress. All growers often pay close attention to the fact that there are no male plants in the grow room. However, missing a well-hidden banana on female plants can ruin your entire crop. The plant will then produce seed.
Once your grow room is ready, check with the lights if there is any light leaking somewhere. There only needs to be a small tear or hole and something is already coming in. If you discover such an opening, you can buy this tape from the hardware store. You can also use two layers of gaffer tape. Gaffer tape is semi-transparent, even if you choose the black version. So one layer is not enough.
Most electrical appliances you use in a grow room, such as dehumidifiers, have bright micro LED lighting. This can also cause damage to the plant, because it is a form of ambient light. Stick a piece of tape over such lights. Then you can be sure that the nights are as dark as possible. Outdoors, the dim light of the full moon has beneficial effects on plant growth. However, that is difficult to translate into an indoor culture.
AIR CIRCULATION
Healthy cannabis needs moving air. At least one rotating fan must be installed in every grow room to circulate the air. This has several advantages for the cannabis plant.
Moving air first of all ensures that all leaves on a plant move, so that the stomata get fresh air. In an environment without airflow, stale air can build up on the dark of the petals surrounding the stomata. It is recommended that the gas exchange of the plant is not efficient. This has the undesired effect of decreasing plant growth. The result: weak stems, drooping leaves and poorly performing plants.
Moving air makes plants stronger. For example, they will get thicker and more robust stems and the final yield will be greater.
Moving air also aids in the wet-drying cycle of the growing medium, stimulating evaporation. In addition, it protects the plants against pathogens if moisture accumulates through the perspiration of leaves. Fungi love a moist, warm environment.
AIR FRESH
If you're on a budget, an air freshener system can help your plants grow better. For ventilation, it is necessary that fresh air comes in somewhere and that stale air can escape. If you have even more budget, the installation of a carbon filter in the extraction system ensures that the smell is minimal.
Air supplies are passive and come in various variants; she always establishes herself somewhere at the bottom of the grow room. This can be in the floor if it is raised or in a wall. The most important thing to take into account when making perforations in the grow room is the light. A simple slot, ventilation opening of a number of holes provide sufficient air supply, but also ensure that light escapes or enters. Use a piece of pipe with a kink in it or provide a double partition to prevent this. Remember that light cannot go around a corner. So if you make a setup with a bend, you keep your cultivation discreet. Also provide a barrier to pests. This prevents your critters from entering your space and feasting on your precious weed.
If you have air supply, you must also have air exhaust or an exhaust system. Ideally with a carbon filter. Extraction systems extract stale air and heat from the grow room and allow fresh air to enter. If possible, it is desirable to exhaust the extracted air. This prevents too much heat from being created in closed rooms. You can also choose to recirculate the same air in the system. That can be challenging, but being your best friend in solving air supply issues.
The capacity of an exhaust fan depends on the volume of the grow room. The length x width x height determines this volume. The manufacturer will advise you which fan is right for you. We recommend that you take a bigger shot to improve the correct air exchange. This also gives you the option to expand your cultivation.
CLIMATE CONTROL
Cannabis flourishes only with the right climate in terms of humidity and temperature. Certain parameters are ideal for the vegetative phase and others perfect for flowering.
You can easily control the humidity with a dehumidifier. Treatment devices are also available as double acting units that add or drain moisture as needed. During the growth phase, it provides a moist and warm environment for faster growth. However, if the humidity and temperatures are lower, the buds will develop better.
You can control the temperature with small, portable air conditioners that can also work in reverse. Many humidity adjustment units and heating devices include built-in thermostats and hygrometers. They simply switch on and off when the environment requires it. Simply put them down and trust your weed to perform at its best at every stage. Automating the process makes a grower's life a lot more convenient.
THE SET-UP
Now that you have selected a space that meets the requirements of a healthy and discreet cultivation, it is time to set up your cultivation space. There are various options for creating a grow room at home with limited financial resources. In this method, you use a number of plastic-lined wooden frames for the walls, bottom, ceiling and door. If you install a ceiling, you can put locations in it for the grow lights. When using existing walls and ceilings, make sure you KNOW WHERE THE ELECTRICAL WIRING IS. And when you rent a space, think about how you can get it back to its original state in the future.
What you need:
• A saw
• A stapler with which you can staple wood
• Double-sided plastic film: black on one side, white on the other or reflective, such as Mylar
• Screws
• 4 small hinges
• A drill with a drill bit and a screw bit
• Scissors
• 26 corner pieces
• Plastic corner protectors (optional)
• Wood to work: 4x4cm slats (approx.) Made of pine or similar soft wood are easy to work, strong enough and cheap; you can certainly get this in various lengths at your local hardware store
INSTRUCTIONS
- To make the top and bottom of your frame you need 4 wooden slats of 1m and 5 of 92cm.
To make the sides of your frame you need 7 slats of 192cm.
To make the door you need 2 slats of 1m and 2 of 192cm.
- For the top: To attach the battens, drill a hole 2cm from each end and one in the center for the screws. Do the same for the bottom.
For the door: Drill a hole in the 1m slats 2cm from each end. Screw them to the vertical bars.
Now you have the frame for the bottom ready. Then put one of the 192cm slats at an angle and fix it with two corner pieces. Do the same for the other corners.
Now that all 4 slats are in place, place the top on top and attach all vertical slats to it with the corner pieces.
Measure the center between the vertical battens and attach the stabilizing beams at 2 angles (3 where they intersect the supporting beam of the top frame).
Using scissors, cut a piece of plastic wrap / Mylar that overlaps the corner of each frame. Do not place the plastic in the correct location on the overlapping edge using plastic corner protectors.
Measure where the door is going and screw the 4 hinges in the right place.
Voilà, your grow room is now ready for use.
A RECEPTACLE
A tray on the floor of the grow room ensures that the space remains neat and tidy. You put the plants with their pots in this container, so that you can easily remove any spilled soil and dead leaves and too much water. Once you are done with the cultivation, you can easily clean and sterilize it for the next cultivation.
For this you need to build a 15cm deep frame in your grow room and cover it with the same plastic that you lined the walls with. This prevents the floor of the room from getting dirty and offers protection against pathogens.
It is common to regularly rinse plants during growth. This will wash away accumulated fertilizer salts. You also keep the medium as optimal in terms of nutrients. Organic cultivation does not build up nutrients, but there is always run-off. However, at the end of the flowering phase, just before harvesting, you should rinse once with all growing methods to improve the quality of the buds. The collector collects all the excess water, so you can easily remove it.
A container can also serve as a passive watering system if you leave the plants unattended for several days. To do this, put fresh water in the container and the cannabis will then suck it up and do not dry out when you are away.
NOW YOU CAN GO BREEDING
You have now created a space where you can start growing cannabis at home. First of all, fresh air comes in for a healthy exchange of carbon dioxide, oxygen and heat. In addition, no light can enter and exit, so that your plants can grow optimally and discreetly. In addition, it is clean and easy to maintain. What you have to do now is determine whether you will grow organically or with nutrients. And finally, you still have to choose killerstrains!
