I agree that there's a lot of inauthentic feedback on the internet from astroturfed mobs of trolls, bots, and AIs. But, I'm pretty sure cancel culture is a real thing, too. Plenty of people have been fired from jobs for opinions that they expressed online or for their political activity. One prominent example that springs to mind in the crypto space is Brendan Eich, who was fired resigned under pressure from Mozilla for a political donation that he made.
Eventually, he landed on his feet and is now the CEO at Brave. Lucky for the rest of us, I think it turns out that the browser space was made better because of the shift.
But are the online ringleaders ai? I do agree a lot of people jump on and that’s how it spirals. it’s definitely a cross point in humanity I feel where we can stand up or just fold and become little minions only saying what we are told to for fear of not being able to make money.
