Happy day to the friends of this beautiful platform. Once again, I come to tell you about the route my companions and I explored today.

Nos sumergimos en una parte boscosa y fría en búsqueda de una zona llamada cueva de los murciélagos, en los últimos días ha sonado el tema de los murciélagos por el coronavirus dicen que es uno de los animales que propaga la infección así que, tomamos previsiones, solo fue, mirar desde lejos.

We dived into a cold wooded area in search of an area called bat cave, in the last few days the subject of bats has been raised by the coronavirus they say is one of the animals that spreads the infection so, we took precautions, it was just, looking from afar.

Durante el recorrido admiramos el paisaje hermoso, cada parte de la montaña es más bonita que otra, cada una posee características completamente diferentes. En esta parte del cerro hay grandes cantidades de árboles, entre ellos encontramos, el Cedro.

During the tour we admired the beautiful landscape, each part of the mountain is beautiful than another, each one has completely different characteristics. In this part of the hill there are a lot of trees, among them we found the Cedro.

El Cedro es un árbol alto, hermoso, frondoso, cuando alzamos la mirada simulamos estar tocar el cielo. La mañana, con la humedad de la zona se mantuvo fresca con cielos despejados.

The Cedro is a tall, beautiful, leafy tree, when we raise our eyes we pretend to be touching the sky. The morning, with the humidity of the area remained cool with clear skies.

Caminábamos y a su vez escuchábamos los chasquidos de las hojas en el suelo. Cuando están secas suelen ser crujientes, es agradable el sonido emitido cuando las pisamos.

We walked and in turn listened to the clicks of the leaves on the ground. When they are dry they are usually crunchy, the sound emitted when we step on them is pleasant.

Aprovechamos el momento de contemplar y también para fotografiar. Una nueva excusa para aprender nace de unas cosas extrañas colgantes en los árboles. Yo las conocía, la utilizaba en época navideña para adornar el pesebre pero, cuando alguien me dijo que eso era pupú de paloma y eran dañina para la salud, dejé de utilizarla.

We took advantage of the moment to contemplate and also to photograph. A new excuse to learn comes from some strange things hanging from the trees. I knew them, I used them at Christmas time to decorate the pesebre but, when someone told me that they were pigeon poop and were harmful to health, I stopped using them.

Consultando con nuestro guía y confiando en sus conocimientos ya que vive en esa montaña, me dijo que le llaman musgo._{Yo conozco otra cosa como musgo, creí que estaba equivocado.}

Consulting with our guide and trusting his knowledge since he lives on that mountain, he told me they call him moss. I know something else like moss, I thought I was wrong.

Pues no, con mucha seguridad nos dijo que se trataba de musgo y efectivamente son parásitos que dejan las aves y con ellos construyen sus nidos.

Well, no, he most certainly told us that it was moss, and indeed they are parasites that birds leave and with them they build their nests.

Sigue el tema del parásito, no solo las lianas lo son, también los musgos. Aquí entonces es donde retomamos la idea de los diferentes tipos de lianas o parásitos de las plantas.

A pesar de su carácter parasitario son necesarios dentro del ecosistema porque algunos insectos y anfibios se nutren de él, esto por ende quiere decir, que si acabamos con el musgo, ponemos en riesgo algunas especies de insectos. Nunca pensé de los tantos cuidados requeridos por los diminutos animales.

In spite of their parasitic nature, they are necessary within the ecosystem because some insects and amphibians feed on them. This means that if we destroy the moss, we put some species of insects at risk. I never thought of the many cares required by the tiny animals.

En otros países como en nuestra querida Venezuela, ambientalistas promueven la conservación del musgo luego de su extracción indiscriminada en diferentes zonas del país.

In other countries like our beloved Venezuela, environmentalists promote the conservation of moss after its indiscriminate extraction in different areas of the country.

Desconocía por completo las funciones del musgo. Según los expertos el rol del musgo es detener la humedad y erosión dentro del bosque, ellos atrapan el agua de lluvia, absorben los contaminantes del aire además de los aportes que brinda a las especies que se nutren de él.

I was completely unaware of the functions of moss. According to the experts, the role of moss is to stop humidity and erosion inside the forest. They trap rainwater, absorb air pollutants and provide contributions to the species that feed on it.

Hoy con este nuevo aprendizaje, me uno al llamado de los ambientalistas para tomar consciencia y evitemos estas acciones que muchas veces se hacen por ignorancia o desconocimiento, sin negar que otras veces se haga con toda intención.

Today, with this new learning, I join the call of the environmentalists to become aware and avoid these actions that are often done out of ignorance or lack of knowledge, without denying that other times they are done with full intention.

Esta parte de la montaña aún goza de las bendiciones del musgo y por lo que pude percibir, los pobladores de la zona lo saben muy bien y es por ello que la conservan.

This part of the mountain still enjoys the blessings of moss and from what I could perceive, the inhabitants of the area know it very well and that is why they preserve it.
