In US, the surgeon took a unique step. Heart patient's heart removed and pig's heart replaced. This shocking experiment was done by Surgeons of the University of Maryland Medical Center on 7th jan 2022.

Now let's talk on whom this experiment was done and why.------

This experiment was done on David Bennett, a 57-year-old man from Maryland. When all the options were too much to try and they did not see any results, then all the surgeons raised their hands to save them, Surgeons got permission to do this experiment on David Bennett because of the ground form of that health authorities.

in this that any new medical experiment can be done on the patient only when it reaches a very serious condition, And either it happens in do or die situation.

Let's talk about xenotransplantation first - what is xenotransplantation

Transplanting of organs or tissues between two different species. Where we replace the human body parts with the parts of another animal and take its help, inside the medical guideline. This research was done first in 1920

Why only pig -.
pigs are promising sources for transplants because their organs closely match the size and shape of human body. Which is a positive sign.

How was the recent transplant different
Earlier and quite a few medical universities and medical research teams had decided on xenotransplantation, they have been successful to some extent. In this surgery the surgeons used a heart from a pig after it underwent gene editing in a bid to remove a sugar in its cell which is responsible for hyper- fast organ rejection.

What does the patient's recovery report say??????

Due to David's heart surgery, he has been kept under observation. Where the doctor says that David is responding a little better after Three days of transplant, but it is too early to reach any decision. Doctors are very closely observing all his movements. as per the news David is still connected with the device, so that there is no immediate pressure on him.
Dr. Bartley P Griffit, who conducted this surgery, says that if this surgery works successfully So in the future this will be a new option for medical surgeries.
Dr. Muhammad Mohiuddin scientific director of the University of Maryland, said If this works, there will be an endless supply of these organs for afflicted patients.

As per the WHO report, every year 17.3 million people die due to disease like cardiovascular. If this experiment is successful then it will be of great help to the medical people to treat the people suffering from heart problems.

I hope you will find this post informative.
