Extraordinary Expectations from Children nainaztengra ( 76 ) Delegator at Best of India • 5 hours ago Today's children are always competing and it becomes even more difficult for them when their parents raise the standard of expectations far higher than their age capacity. 30 years ago, the scene was very different. There is competition but not to this level. When a child is about to finish school studies and enter university that is the time, they will start thinking about what they want to pursue as their career. But now at the age of 9 to 10 it begins; parents start expecting their child to decide at that age what career they want to choose and then they include it in those additional trainings and classes. Children are burdened with parental expectations. From infancy, this hope begins. If children start to talk late, they start to panic and take them to various therapies because they think their child has a problem. But I say they have problems, not children. What a rush for everything. Preparation for various entrance exams starts from the school period itself, because everyone wants their child to be the best and be accepted at the best university. Completing something less like below the dignity. These little ones have no playtime during the day, they are full day in school, tutoring, classes, homework, project work and what not.
You must be amazed when you see children like that, because they seem almost perfect, but in all this their childhood is lost, their innocence is lost. They forget to be like children, they have participated in the race of life. The nature of competition is ingrained in them and they have started to speak the same language as their parents. It's not their fault, it's the conditioning that begins when they're born. To be accepted into the best school in my city, preparation starts from the moment the child is born, so you can imagine the pressure that the little baby must go through. The world has changed so much in the last 15 to 20 years. I hope we can relax a bit, slow down and take things gradually with the right age. A 7 to 8 year old kid, getting ready to go to NASA, or starting to learn coding, all this sounds crazy to me, but then this is the reality of today's world.
