In Hinduism Cow is one of the most sacred animal which is also known as "Kamdhenu".

Kamdhenu means the Cow which is from heaven and which fulfills every desire.

Fascinating? isn't it?

In Hinduism Cow is treated as Mother and also get worshipped like a Goddess. It's a good way to treat animals as they also have full rights to live their full life.

What's your thoughts on this?

According to legends Cow emerged from "Samundramanthan"
Samundramanthan itself is a vast topic to discuss, so right now I'll not talk a lot about it as it would deviate us from our main topic.

Samundra means "Ocean" and "Manthan" literally means Churning, so literary it means "Ocean Churning" but in Hinduism every word has a deep meaning and one should dig deeper in their brains to understand it's real meaning. For Now just take it literally and take it as Ocean Churning done by Devas and Asuras.

Devas are celestial beings associated with various aspects of the cosmos.
Asuras are described in Indian texts as powerful superhuman demigods with good or bad qualities.

During Samundramanthan many divine and precious treasures were bought up from the depth, like

  1. Chandra : The Moon
  2. Parijata : A beautiful and fragrant tree now planted in Indra’s heaven
  3. Airavata : The four-tusked elephant
  4. Kamadhenu : The cow of plenty
  5. Madira : The goddess of wine
  6. Kalpavriksha : The wish-fulfilling tree
  7. Apsaras : Celestial dancers
  8. Uccaihshravas : The celestial horse
  9. Lakshmi : Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity
  10. Panchajanya : Lord Vishnu’s conch
  11. Kaumodaki & Sharanga : Lord Vishnu’s mace and magic bow
  12. Ratnas : Gems and jewels
  13. Dhanvantari : The Physician of Gods who come up with the main item for which Devas and Asuras were doing Samundramanthan
  14. Amrit : Nectar of Immortality
