Problem:

Ever since the addition of the community support initiative by @steemitblog, community leaders have had to keep track of the total posts and engagement by the community members for the particular month/week. When a community gets over 100 posts every day, this task becomes extremely difficult.

One of my previous tools which is called the tagsearcher is capable of retrieving the posts made in a particular community. However, due to issues with Hivemind APIs, this was not very reliable and would often give varying results.

Soluton:

So, I had two ways to deal with this problem.
1- Create a bot that parses blocks and stores them in a database to be consumed by other apps.
While this would have been an approach where I would have had the most control over the data, it also meant that the effort needed from my end would also be very high. This would also take a much longer time for me to develop.

2- The other option, which is also the way I went about this problem was to make use of @steemchiller's SDS node Feed API.

By simply entering the community tag and the date range for which you want the stats, you can easily get the link to every post made during this time period as well as the stats of the users who made the posts.

How to use the new tool?

All you need to do is enter the community tag name in the tag name field and select the from and to dates.

In the screenshot above, I have entered the community tag of BestOfIndia which is "hive-196725".

On clicking the search button, you would get the list of posts made in the community within the time period and on the right table, you would get the details of how many posts were made by the individual users during this time period.

Future Improvements:

Right now I am working on my first Steem DApp and that would have the highest priority. However, if there is a bug in steemcryptic, I would switch over and fix the bug before working on the DApp. So, until I release my DApp, I would most likely not add any new features here on steemcryptic.
