Update on the API used:
Hey guys. In my previous posts, I had mentioned the extensive use of the account history API of the Steem RPC nodes in all my applications.
This was creating two a couple of issues for me.
- Firstly, the account_history API was not working for a couple of days and this rendered two out of my apps for two whole days.
- Secondly, to get all edit history, I had to scan through the account history. If an older post was searched or the reward history of a very old month is searched for, the app would take a longer time to calculate and provide the results.
Because of the above-mentioned issues, there were several instances where my SIR tool had timed out as well. When the only option I saw was to multi-thread more aggressively to make my processing faster, @steemchiller told me about his SDS API which basically makes the life of all developers extremely simple.
Instead of me having to manually scan through the entire account history, I can now get the data that I search for. This is why I have now migrated both ScribeV2 and the SIR tool to the SDS node API.
,sup>SIR tool is now faster and more accurate from tomorrow
While implementing this, I also get to know a lot more about the way the rewards work here on steem. Initially, when I released the SIR tool in January, I was of the opinion that we are paid out in Steem for Steem Power. However, @steemchiller then clarified all my doubt and also went on to explain how we are actually paid out in Vests, and SP is then calculated for it using the global properties.
The new version of SIR now does exactly that. So, if you do see the value of author steem power or curation steem power changing then this is the cause of the APR that you earn on SP that you hold.
The implementation of the SDS API has also made all retrievals and calculations extremely fast. So, you will now be able to have a better user experience on both scribe and SIR tools
Reason behind the API shift:
This was also a calculated move to make custom dates to be searched in the SIR tool. Currently, there is support to calculate the income report on a monthly basis. However, with this move, we are now a step closer to implementing custom date selection in the SIR tool.
Update on the URL:
I have now started to move all my apps under a common domain. So, you will now be able to find the Scribe tool at
https://scribe.steemcryptic.me and the SIR tool at https://sir.steemcryptic.me .
The SIR tool will continue to be available at https://www.steemincomereport.tech for a few more months. But that will be discontinued after a few months.
Great, thank you so much.
