In an effort to achieve the goal of installing 500 GW (Gigawatt) of renewable energy by 2030, India needs to use its own water resources, said Union Minister RK Singh. The Minister made the remarks at an event organized to celebrate the 47th Anniversary of PSU NHPC's 47 Growth Day on Sunday.

"PMO Narendra Modi has set a target of installing 500 GW (gigawatt) of renewable energy by 2030. We will do that instead of exceeding our target. "But to include such a volume of RE capacity we need a source of measurement and that the source of measurement is hydro, the more the role of NHPC becomes. it is important, the Minister said in a statement.

The Minister has instructed the NHPC to use the country's water resources to become one of the world's largest hydropower companies.

"I am pleased that over the past 2-3 years we have made such progress. The projects have been delayed for a long time, you have started them again. (at the dam), all the obstacles are gone. Now the 3,000-MW project will also begin, "said Minister Singh.

Thanking the staff for working with the challenges in bad weather, he called on the NHPC to suspend as much electricity as possible and to bring NHPC to the list of the world's largest power companies.

Motivating individual solar power generation is also reducing the power demands as well as pollution

If the electric vehicles become the norm, then using the dam energy source is something that is a necessity. I think it'd be interesting to see that happening.
