Funny English// Lesson 2: It's Not My Dog// #club5050

Greetings to all the authors and readers of the wonderful Steem Skillshare community. I continue a series of funny English lessons. Today let's talk about dogs. More precisely, about those idioms that are associated with them in English.

For example, A DOG'S BREAKFAST. This does not mean at all that the dog has breakfast, in fact it means: a terrible mess.

There is another interesting expression: DOG'S LIFE. Well, what can a dog's life be? If we take my dog's life, then it's comfortable and good. But in English it means a miserable existence. Everyone would have such a miserable existence, like my dog Sonya!

Or here's another expression: IT'S NOT MY DOG. This is not at all about the situation when you are looking for your dog, and it is not among other dogs. That means it's not your problem at all.

One more idiom is: BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE. Do you think it's about the dog barking at a tree? Oh no, it's not! This means that you blame the wrong person, not the situation.

And finally: TO BE LIKE A DOG WITH A BONE. What did you imagine, a dog with a bone? This is said about people who are running around with some idea, thinking about something specific all the time.

Now the situation: I came to my friends who had a dog. The dog made such a mess in the room that I exclaimed: IT'S DOG'S BREAKFAST! Where, where?- the owners asked, it had already had breakfast. Why are you running around with your dog, LIKE A DOG WITH A BONE," I protested. It would be better to sell the dog and earn at least some money on the sale, you have a DOG'S LIFE! We are not to blame here, - said the owners, YOU ARE BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE! Well, I don't know what your problems are, -I said carefully, IT IS NOT MY DOG!

Например, A DOG'S BREAKFAST. Это совсем не означает, что у собаки завтрак, а значит: ужасный беспорядок.Есть ещё одно интересное выражение: DOG'S LIFE . Ну какой может быть собачья жизнь?Если как у моей собаки, то она комфортная и отличная. Но на самом деле это означает жалкое существование. Всем бы такое жалкое существование, как у моей собаки Сони!

Или вот еще: IT'S NOT MY DOG. Это совсем не про ту ситуацию, когда вы ищете свою собаку, а ее среди других собак нет. Это означает, что это совсем не ваша проблема. Ну или вот: BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE. Вы думаете, что это о той собаке, которая облаивает дерево, а вот и нет! Это значит, что вы валите вину не на того человека, не нату ситуацию. Ну и наконец: TO BE LIKE A DOG WITH A BONE. Что вы представили, собаку с косточкой? Это говорится о людях, которые носятся с какой-то идеей, думают о чем-то определенном постоянно.

А напоследок ситуация: Я пришла к друзьям, у которых жила собака. Собака навела в комнате такой беспорядок, что я воскликнула: IT'S DOG'S BREAKFAST! Где, где?-спросили хозяева, она же уже завтракала. Ну что вы носитесь со своей собакой, LIKE A DOG WITH A BONE,-возмутилась я. Лучше бы продали ее и хоть немного денег на продаже заработали, у вас же DOG'S LIFE! Мы тут не виноваты,- сказали хозяева, YOU ARE BARKING UP THE WRONG TREE! Ну не знаю, что у вас за проблемы,-аккуратно сказала я, IT IS NOT MY DOG!
