My Skill

I'm a graphic designer by profession and I've been into graphic for sometime now. I really love it and that is what pushes me into improving myself from time to time. We all know that the world is not static,what seems like the trend today might just be obsolete tomorrow and that is where practice come in,one has to keep developing him or herself so that he can be better at what he does and that exactly what I do.

What is graphic design.

Graphics design can be defined as a systematic way of communicating a thought or idea using using fonts,image,colours and shapes. I would love us to look at these term I mentioned in my definition,I'm doing this for education purpose,to enlighten as many who has interest in becoming a graphic designer someday. You will surely find this post helpful.

Fonts.

Font talks about the lettering style used in communicating your idea. It is important to note that not all font serve the same purpose,there are some that are used for official purpose and for official designes (e.g serif fonts) while some other are used for designing things that has to do with functions such as birthday,wedding invites and the likes.Script fonts like brushscript will help in this area because of it styles.

Image

Image has a long way in communicating your ideas,a wrong image used in a design can communicate a different idea from what you have in mind,that is why you have to be meticulous in choosing the kind of image that will help communicate your idea or the idea of your client perfectly.

Colours

Colours play a major role in graphic,using the wrong combination of colours can make the design a total mess and can spoil the whole idea you're trying to paint.First it will be an eyesore to the viewer who will end up loosing interest or could even misinform the viewers about the colour code of an entity. For example,the default colours for a entity that is into agriculture is "green" if you use red or blue as the dominant colour to design for such entity,then you've misrepresented that entity through your design.

Shapes

Shapes play a major role in graphic design,your choice of shape should be properly and carefully selected. Don't use too much of it in your designs and be consistent with whichever you will be using in a particular design lest the design becomes a total mess.

Some of my designs

General tips needed as a Graphic designer.

Avoid irrelevant/too much information in a flier,it makes it look difficult to read.
Priotize you caption,ensure you lay emphasis on the theme (the main focus) of the design and less emphasis on the things that are less important.
Be very creative,don't box yourself,just be flexible with your designs.
Never forget your basic,you need them always,they are like your foundation.
Be open to learning and follow trands, don't stop learning,a profession is regarded as one simply because he choose to remain a student even after he has learnt so much.

I have said so much about what I do and I've also used this medium to educate as many who has interest or would love to venture into this later on. I'm also looking forward to a time when we will have a group of professional graphics designers on @steemskillshare.
