The warmest greetings to everyone in the #steemit world especially in the #steemskillshare community. I'm very happy that sir @abu78 gives his time and effort to discuss some lessons which we learn this week. His given topic for this week is all about "PREPOSITION". Now let me share my idea about this topic.

Explain Preposition and give five examples of prepositions in a sentence

A preposition is a word or a group of words that we will use before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase that shows a direction, time, place, location, or to introduce an object in a sentence. Here are some examples of the preposition that is commonly used when we make a sentence. These words are "in", " at", "on", " of", and "to".
These prepositions show the relationship between a noun and another word in a sentence.

## Prepositions according to Direction

When we say direction we will use the following preposition in a sentence like "to", "in", "into", "on", and "onto".
Examples :

  • I'm not qualified to advise on such matters.
  • She drove to the store.
  • He is interested in driving a car.
  • My husband is working in the field.
  • They are going to the kitchen.

Prepositions according to Time

There are prepositions that we will use to refer to one point in time such as "in", "at", and "on".

  • We will use the word " in" with parts of the day not in specific times, months, years, and seasons.

Examples:

He reads a story in the evening.
She was born in 1976.
The weather is cold in January.

  • We will use the word "at" with the time of day. Also, we can use "at" with noon, night, and midnight.

Examples:

I go to work at 6:00.
He eats dinner at night.
She often goes for a walk at night.
They go to bed at midnight.

  • We also use the word "on" with days.

Examples:

I work on Saturdays.
He does laundry on Sundays.
I go to the market on Wednesday.
Leah jog in the park on Monday.

  • Some prepositions will refer to extended time. These words are "since", "for", " by", "during", " from...to", "from...until", " with", and "within".

Examples:

I have lived in Cebu City since 2002.
He will be in Japan for 2 months.
She will finish her assignment by 5:00.
Maria works part-time during the summer.
I will collect payment from January to May.

## Prepositions of Place

This preposition is referring to a place. We will use " in" to the point itself, "at" to the general vicinity, "on" was used in the surface, and "inside" is something contained.
Example :

They will meet in the dining room.
She was seating at the corner.
He left his mobile phone on the bed.
Place the folded dress inside the cabinet.
They will run in the oval.

## Prepositions of Location

When you refer to a location, we can use the prepositions "in" an area or volume, "at" a point, and "on" a surface.
Example:

They live in the Philippines.
She will find him at the store.
There is a lot of dirt on the window.
