The warmest greeting to all @steemskillshare members around the globe. Today I want to share the continuation of the topic given which is Preposition. As we all know that a preposition is a word or a group of words that was used before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase that will show a direction, time, place, location, or introduce an object in a sentence.

Explain and give examples each for the types of Prepositions mentioned above.

The Preposition of time

  • These prepositions that we have used was refer to one point in time whether it will happen or something happens. This includes a word such as in, at, on, before, after, during, for, by, within, since, until, around...
    Examples
    a. I run in the park on Monday.
    b. He goes to bed at midnight.
    c. He will finish her homework by 10:00.
    d. Michelle works full-time during the summer.
    e. I will collect payment from November to March.

Prepositions of Place

  • These prepositions were referred to a place that indicates the location of someone as well as the location of the subject. We also use the time prepositions such as in, on, and at which provide specific information about the place. This includes words like inside, outside, under, over, across, around, near, above, behind, between, beside, etc.
    Example :
    a. They place the folded dress inside the cabinet.
    b. The fire hydrant is under the table.
    c. I lay beside the pool to dry off in the sun.
    d. There is a brush near the toilet.
    e. I fell behind in the race.

Prepositions of movement

  • These prepositions are used to show the movement from one place to another. This is often used with a verb in motion and it is found after the verb. Here are some words that are used like across, over, into, towards, along, around, through, from, onto, up, down.
    Example:
    a. It's easier to run down the mountain than go up.
    b. My hair whipped around my face in the wind.
    c. What time does the flight from Davao arrive?
    d. The swan swam across the lake.
    e. The beautiful bird flew over the lake.

Search, explore, and explain how to recognize a preposition with an example?

We all know that a Preposition has an important role in the English language. These are used to show the relationship between a noun or pronoun in a sentence and also another word in a sentence. These are always be followed by a noun or pronoun in a sentence. These can be provided by some examples. It is very useful to find prepositional phrases in sentences because a noun or pronoun in the prepositional phrase must be a preposition's object and that's why it cannot be misidentified as a verb. For example in this sentence.

After several minutes we locate the key for the drawer. In this example After several minutes is a preposition phrase. After is the preposition and minutes is the object of a preposition. Also for the drawer is a prepositional phrase. For is the preposition and door is the object also which indicates the places.
