A pleasant day to everyone. This is the Week 5 of our learning studies here in the #Steemskillshare community. This will help us in creating quality content here in steemit. I'm very thankful to sir @abu78, for all the lessons that he shared with is during the past few days. Today I want to share my ideas about the new topic assigned by our professor this week. Which is about the CONJUNCTION. Now I have to answer our homework task from sir @abu78.

Briefly explain what you understand by Conjunction and give five examples sentences.

A conjunction is a part of speech that acted as a linker to join or connect the words, phrases, or clauses in different parts of a sentence. Without using conjunction, the expression of an idea will seem different and it can irritate all the readers. Here are the examples of conjunction that are always used to connect in the sentence.

Examples of conjunction in a sentence

  • Leah wrote to Marie and waited for her response.
  • Would you like to have milk or coffee.
  • Clint is weak but energetic.
  • He knows you as well as he knows anyone else in your place.
  • I would like both cake and salad.

Explain and give three examples each for the types of Conjunctions we learned.

There are 3 major types of Conjunction namely :

A. COORDINATING CONJUNCTION

  • It will join the two sentences that have an equal grammatical value. These kinds of conjunctions have several uses to join words, clauses, or phrases. Seven coordinating conjunctions serve various purposes in making a sentence. Here is the list of these conjunctions.

Here are the three examples that I used in a sentence

  • I've brought a cup of milk for you.
  • He could not speak, nor he understands anything I have said.
  • I'm amazed that you haven't told him anything yet.

B. SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTION

  • In these types of conjunction, we use a linker so that we create a relationship between an independent clause and a dependent clause. It can make cause-and-effect connections in the sentence. We will notice such a relationship in the sentences with a subordinating conjunction.
Here is a list of subordinating conjunction that is frequently used in making a sentence.

Here are the three examples of subordinating conjunction that I used in a sentence.

  • You'll never know unless you try.
  • He took the burden rather than accusing everyone else.
  • I've still enjoyed my holiday, although it rained a lot.

C. CORRELATIVE CONJUNCTION

  • These conjunctions are used in pairs in a sentence and it was linked together in a sentence. We will always encounter them in a pairs within a sentence. Let us say that they will act as a team within a sentence. We can justify the job of these linkers. The word CO means that they work in coordination and the word RELATIVE is meant that to join in different elements of the sentences together.
Here is the list of most frequently used correlative conjunctions.

Here are the three examples of correlative conjunction that I used in a sentence.

  • She is not only poor but also unemployed.
  • It would be better to make our decision now, rather than leave it until later.
  • I'm not sure whether we stay here for dinner or go somewhere else.

I'm glad that I've learned a lot from this lesson. I'm very thankful to our professor for his time in providing us with a lesson for this week. Thank you also to the #steemskillshare community for allowing us to learn.

Truly yours,
@liamnov
