Hi dear friends, greetings to all of you here. Today I'm writing my assignment for graphic design class in steemskillshare community. I thank sir @atim1234 for the nice and well explained lecture.
Now I'll answer the whole questions in my own words and understanding:

Banners

Banner is an advertising medium that is used to promote a product, brand, website, business etc.
Banners are mostly rectangular graphic displays which aims at advertising and promoting.
A banner consists of images or illustrations, texts and colors that are attractive to the audience. Banners are designed in such a way that it is easy to read and also maintains the attention of the viewers.

Types of banner

Pull up/rectangular banners.

This is the type of banner that is usually 6 feet tall with custom width size.
These are also known as roll-up banners.
They can retract into a base or a stand.

This type of banner allows for portability and convenience. They are also very easy to use.
They help in the advertisements of products and services. They are designed in such a way that attracts attention using many styles, sizes, colours etc.

They can be kept in front of our offices or within the office premises with the aim of attracting people's attention to the office

They are used in retail store branding. It is an effective way of advertising a product or services with less cost.

Retractable banners are portable, affordable, easy to use,durable, etc.

Mesh banners

This is the type of banner that uses mesh patterns and allows wind to pass through.
This type of banner can be displayed in different settings.

Mesh panels are good for Windy locations since they allow her to pass through.

Pop up booths

These are the type of banner that is characterized by their ability to pop up.
They are allowed to display eye-catching and high-quality graphics for advertisement purposes.

They are used to promote booths and social media and also build pre-event interest

Also they are used to host of events celebrity signing, product demonstration etc.

Fabric banners

This type of banner is often made of polyester or satin. They are washable banners which are mostly used indoors because of their fading colours.

It allows us to show off at work effectively and easily

Hanging banners

Hanging banners are the signs that are usually suspected across a wall.
They can come in different shapes such as triangles, square, hexagon, ring, etc

Since people tend to look up when they are in a crowded areas, hanging banners are effective in the area of attracting attention in public places.

Hanging banners are used to promote a new product or service celebrate an event or milestone, etc.

My Banner Design

Before creating my banner, I took the following into consideration:

The purpose

The purpose of the banner was already given by the teacher. The purpose was to promote steemit and to invite people to join #club5050. In line with this, I created my club5050 typograghic ad first.

I then chose the right image size for my banner design.

After that, I started my design.

Why I can say my banner is attractive

I started by choosing a suitable background for my banner. I understand I can choose to use a color for it but I chose to download a background from the internet.
I made sure the background color would match the idea I want to convey.

I also selected a suitable image for it. Since the banner aims at inviting people to steemit, I chose an inviting woman from the internet and removed the image background using the Remove.bg site.

The Typograghy in my banner is also easy to read.

I think that the color of the texts and images or background agree with each other. They are all in harmony.

I also tried to make sure the writeup captivates interest. For example, everyone wants to win big prizes, so I included in my banner that powering up in steemit will help them to win big prizes.

I tried to use few words in my banner as well, that way people will not get disinterested in reading long texts in the banner.

Elements and principles

Typograghy: I made sure my texts are arranged and not confusing. I used not more than 3 fonts styles so that my texts wi still be in order. I also tried to allign my texts well so they can be a guide to viewers.

Color: I ensured that the color used is in line with the purpose of my design. And that they are not clashing.

IMAGE: I ensured to use an image that corresponds with the theme of the design I'm making.
I also added the steemit logo to my banner.

Conclusion

For graphic designers, creating a banner is usually the simplest.
When creating a banner for anything, whether an event or holiday decorations, designers make sure it stands out in the crowd. No passerby will cross the banner without first staring at it.
With the right tools, a designer can work wonders with the banner. They'll convey the information and as well look amazing
